WHEAT

- Sept 19 - Egypt's GASC seeks an unspecified amount of wheat from global suppliers for Oct 16-26 shipment

- Sept 16 - Egypt's GASC cancelled a tender to buy an unspecified amount of wheat from global suppliers for October 15-25 shipment, due to absence of offers, since Egypt reinstated its zero-tolerance ergot policy

- Egyptian quarantine inspectors have rejected a 60,000-MT Russian wheat shipment at the Russian port of Novorossiisk due to problems related to the ergot fungus

- Russia will temporary suspend imports of fruit and vegetables from Egypt from Sept 22. The move came after Egyptian quarantine inspectors rejected a 60,000-MT Russian wheat shipment

- Egypt's agriculture ministry has formed a high level committee to try and resolve a trade standoff with Russia over agricultural commodities

- Russia's Ag Min said Russia exported about 7.453 MMT of grain between July 1-Sept 14, 2016/17, down by 2.7% from 7.659 MMT a year ago, including:

  • wheat – 6.316 MMT (6.008 MMT a year ago);
  • barley – 1.009 MMT (1.352 MMT);
  • corn – 94 TMT (253 TMT);
  • others – 33 TMT (46 TMT)

- Russia has 3,246,200 MT of grain in its federal intervention fund as of September 16

- Sept 19 - Russia bought 11,340 MT of intervention wheat via the first in 2016/17 tender on the NTB (National Trade Exchange, Moscow Exchange)

- Russian farmers harvested 71.19 MMT of wheat from 87.8% of the planned area as of Sept 16, up from 56.29 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 2.93 mt/ha up from 2.67 mt/ha a year ago

- Russian farmers have planted 9.03 million hectares (52% of the planned area) of winter crops as of September 16 down vs. 8.12 mln ha a year ago

- Kazakh farmers harvested 15.72 MMT of all grains as of Sept 19, up from 9.55 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 1.49 mt/ha up from 1.15 mt/ha a year ago

- Kazakhstan's grain stocks as of September 1, 2016 accounted 4.83 MMT, including 3.81 MMT of wheat thereof 3.45 MMT of milling wheat compared to 4.81 MMT (incl. 4.09 MMT of wheat thereof 3.68 MMT of milling) a year ago

- Ukrainian farmers have planted 818,000 hectares of winter wheat (13% of plan) as of Sept 16 down from 843,000 ha a year ago

- South Korea plans to buy a total of 390,000 MT of domestic rice from Sept 23 through Dec 31 in a bid to keep the price stable in a bumper year. Last year, South Korea harvested a record amount of 4.32 MMT of rice and this year's output is expected to stay high

CORN

- Sept 16 - Argentina grants export licenses for 44,416 MT of corn

- Safras & Mercado forecasts Brazil's 2016/17 corn crop at record 92.3 MMT versus 70.75 MMT in 2015/16

- FranceAgriMer estimated France's corn condition as 54% in good to excellent as of Sept 12, down 1% point from the prior week and below the year-ago score of 55%

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 1.264 MMT of maize from 7% of the planned area as of Sept 16, up from 896,000 MT a year ago. Yields totalled 4.46 mt/ha up from 4.28 mt/ha a year ago

- Russian farmers harvested 18.22 MMT of barley from 92.3% of the planned area as of Sept 16, up from 16.33 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 2.36 mt/ha up from 2.3 mt/ha a year ago

- Russian farmers harvested 2.0 MMT of maize from 13.2% of the planned area as of Sept 16, down from 2.04 MT a year ago. Yields totalled 5.23 mt/ha up from 5.0 mt/ha a year ago

SOYBEAN

- Sept 22 - Egypt's FIHC seeks 30,000 MT of crude soyoil and 15,000 MT of crude sunflower oil for Nov 1-20 arrival

- Sept 16 - Argentina grants export licenses for 6,500 MT of soybeans, 10,028 MT of soybean oil and 10,342 MT of soymeal

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 4.177 MMT of sunseed from 34% of the planned area as of Sept 16, down from 3.114 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 2.07 mt/ha up from 1.99 mt/ha a year ago

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 1.028 MMT of soybean from 27% of the planned area as of Sept 16, up from 868,400 MT a year ago. Yields totalled 2.08 mt/ha up from 1.78 mt/ha a year ago

- Ukrainian farmers have planted 641,000 hectares of winter rapeseed (89% of plan) as of Sept 16 up from 523,000 ha a year ago

- Russian farmers harvested 1.84 MMT of sunseed from 11.8% of the planned area as of Sept 16, down from 1.55 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 2.12 mt/ha up from 2.0 mt/ha a year ago

- Russian farmers harvested 641,600 MT of soybean from 15.8% of the planned area as of Sept 16, down from 714,100 MT a year ago. Yields totalled 1.86 mt/ha up from 1.68 mt/ha a year ago

- Russian farmers harvested 719,000 MT of rapeseed from 55.5% of the planned area as of Sept 16, up from 654,500 MT a year ago. Yields totalled 1.3 mt/ha down from 1.55 mt/ha a year ago
