WHEAT

- Sept 15 - Japan bought 149,231 MT of food wheat for Oct-Jan shipment:

  • 16,600 MT of western white US wheat;
  • 42,945 MT of hard red winter US wheat;
  • 28,620 MT of dark northern spring US wheat;
  • 24,966 MT of Canadian western red spring wheat;
  • 36,100 MT of Australian standard white wheat

- Sept 14 - Argentina grants export licenses for 100,000 MT of wheat

- Sept 15 - Russia bought 7,155 MT of intervention grain (all wheat) via tender on the Crimean Exchange. Making the total bought since Aug 19 at 35,910 MT of 2016/17 grain (33,480 MT of wheat and 2,430 MT of barley)

- Russia's Ag Min plans to start buying intervention grain of 2016 harvest on the NTB (National Trade Exchange, Moscow Exchange) on Sept 16 or Sept 19

- Sept 14 - China auctioned 5,559 MT of 2013 imported US #2 soft red winter wheat from state reserves, or 15% of the offered amount (37,113 MT), at an average price of 2,505 RMB/mt (376 $/mt)

- Sept 13 - China sold 1,379 MT of wheat (mixed) from state reserves or only 0.06% of the offered amount (2,495,634 MT) at auction at price of 2,460 RMB/mt (368 $/mt)

CORN

- Sept 14 - Argentina grants export licenses for 62,240 MT of corn

- Dr. Michael Cordonnier left his projection for US 2016 corn crop unchanged from prior week at 14.87-billion bu

- Rosario grain exchange expects Argentine 2016/17 corn crop area at 5.7 mln hectares, 18% more than in 2015/16, which would result in 33-35 MMT-crop. The exchange also raised its Argentina's 2015/16 corn crop estimate to 29.5 MMT from 27 MMT previously

- US Ethanol production for the week ended Sept 9 increased by 6,000 barrels to 1,004,000 barrels per day, up 4.5% from last year's level of 961,000 bpd. Stocks fell by 447,000 barrels from the week prior to 20.207 million barrels, up 10.5% vs. 18.291 million barrels a year ago

- Bayer and Monsanto announced they have signed “a definitive merger agreement" selling Monsanto to the German-based company for $66 billion, or $128 per share. If ultimately approved by anti-trust regulators, the deal would create the world's biggest supplier of crop protection products and seed, dominating more than 30% of the market. The deal is expected to close by the end of 2017

SOYBEAN

- Dr. Michael Cordonnier raised his US soybean yield projection by 1 bpa from last week to 50.5 bpa, resulting in a 4.19-billion-bu crop (4.11 billion bu last week)

- Surveyor Intertek Testing Services estimated Malaysia's September 1-15 palm oil exports at 669,866 MT down 8.7% from a month ago

- Surveyor SGS estimated Malaysia's September 1-15 palm oil exports at 668,288 MT down 11% from a month ago

- Malaysia will rise its crude palm oil export tax to 6.5% in October from 5% in September. Malaysia calculated a reference price of 2,879.47 MYR/mt (698 $/mt) for October

- India's vegetable oil imports declined 8% in August from a year ago to around 1.3 MMT (1.4 MMT in Aug 2015)

- Monsoon rains in India in September could be up to 15% less than average

- Ukraine has filed a complaint at the World Trade Organization to challenge Russia over restrictions on freight transit
