- Algeria's OAIC bought 700,000 MT of optional-origin milling wheat in a tender last week, more than the volume previously reported, at around 197 $/mt c&f for Oct-Nov shipment

- Russia's Ag Min said Russia exported about 6.418 MMT of grain between July 1-Sept 7, 2016/17, down by 5% from 6.786 MMT a year ago, including:

  • wheat – 5.443 MMT (5.283 MMT a year ago);
  • barley – 893 TMT (1.258 MMT);
  • corn – 49 TMT (204 TMT);
  • others – 33 TMT (41 TMT)

- Russia has 3,243,500 MT of grain in its federal intervention fund as of September 9

- Russia hopes to start talks with Egypt on delayed wheat supplies. Rosselkhoznadzor says Egypt is not issuing approvals for Russian wheat shipments since zero tolerance on ergot adopted in late august

- Sovecon lowered its forecast for Russia's 2016 wheat crop to 70.8 MMT from previously expected 71.3 MMT; the total grain crop is expected at 117.2 MMT

- Australia is expected to produce a near-record 28 MMT of wheat in 2016/17, the biggest in five years

- Sept 23 - Mauritius seeks 6,000 MT of optional origin long grain white rice for Oct-Jan shipment. Tender deadline is Sept 23 with offers remaining valid until Nov 8


- Sept 13 - Taiwan's MFIG group seeks up to 65,000 MT of Brazil or US origin corn for Nov 10-Dec 14 shipment

- Sept 7 - Algeria's OAIC bought around 110,000 MT of optional origin feed barley, probably from Ukraine, at 166-168 $/mt c&f for October shipment

- Brazil imported 295,000 MT of corn in August (170 TMT from Paraguay and 125 TMT from Argentina), bringing the year to date total to 1.1 MMT, up sharply from last year

- India approved the creation of buffer stock of 2 MMT of pulses as the country could harvest record crops this year


- Surveyor Intertek Testing Services estimated Malaysia's September 1-10 palm oil exports at 380,115 MT down 16.7% from a month ago
