WHEAT

- Aug 26 - Egypt's GASC bought 180,000 MT of Russian wheat for September 26-October 5 delivery:

  • 60,000 MT of Russian wheat from Union at 185.15 $/mt c&f (177.35 $/mt fob+7.8 $/mt freight);
  • 60,000 MT of Russian wheat from Union at 185.15 $/mt c&f (177.35 $/mt fob+7.8 $/mt freight);
  • 60,000 MT of Russian wheat from Daewoo at 186.25 $/mt c&f (178.45 $/mt fob+7.8 $/mt freight)

- Egypt said on Sunday it was re-introducing its zero tolerance policy on ergot. The market is bemused as to where Egypt expects to find millions of tonnes of ergot-free wheat

- Aug 19 - South Korea's DongAone, Samyang Corp, Korea Flour Mills, Daesan Flour Mills bought 23,000 MT of US wheat for Jan shipment:

  • 9,900 MT of soft white, max 10.5% protein, at 207.96 $/mt fob;
  • 900 MT of soft white, max 8.5% protein, at 215.31 $/mt fob;
  • 6,100 MT of hard red winter, min 11.5% protein, at 213.10 $/mt fob;
  • 6,100 MT of (dark) northern spring, min 14% protein, at 242.87 $/mt fob

- Aug 26 - Argentina grants export licenses for 69,000 MT of low protein wheat

- Russia's Ag Min said Russia exported about 4.48 MMT of grain between July 1-August 24, 2016/17, down by 0.6% from 4.506 MMT a year ago, including:

  • wheat – 3.701 MMT (3.266 MMT a year ago);
  • barley – 712 TMT (1.042 MMT);
  • corn – 39 TMT (171 TMT);
  • others – 28 TMT (27 TMT)

- Russia has 3,253,100 MT of grain in its federal intervention fund as of August 25

- Kazakh farmers harvested 2.73 MMT of all grains as of August 29, up from 1.91 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 1.74 mt/ha up from 1.35 mt/ha a year ago

- French soft-wheat crop was showing varying quality:

  • 65% of France's soft-wheat harvest had protein levels above 12.5% and only 6% were below 11.5%
  • 79% of the harvest tested had Hagberg falling numbers above 240 seconds, compared with 95% in 2015
  • average specific weight was down sharply from record levels in 2015 – only 28% of the harvest was pegged above 76 kg per hectolitre

CORN

- Aug 26 - Argentina grants export licenses for 172,200 MT of corn

- Aug 24 - South Korea's KOCOPIA bought 55,000 MT of optional origin corn at 198.0 $/mt c&f including surcharge for additional port unloading for Dec 20 arrival

- Pro Farmer estimates the US corn crop will total 14.728 billion bushels this year, with an average yield of 170.2 bpa

SOYBEAN

- Aug 26 - Argentina grants export licenses for 52,200 MT of soymeal

- Pro Farmer estimates the US soybean crop will total 4.093 billion bushels this year, with an average yield of 49.3 bpa

- Canadian canola exporters are making small sales of the oilseed to China under Beijing's stricter terms
