WHEAT

- Aug 23 - Egypt's GASC seeks an unspecified amount of wheat from global suppliers for Sept 21-30 shipment

- Aug 22 - Argentina grants export licenses for 40,000 MT of low protein wheat

- USDA estimated 65% of the US spring wheat crop was harvested as of August 21, behind last year's pace of 69%, but ahead 5-year mean of 46% and matching analysts' forecasts of 65% (62-71% – range)

- US wheat export inspections for week, ending August 18, recorded 530,824 MT, within the market forecasts (500-650 TMT). Inspections for 2016/17 are running 33.1% ahead of year-ago

- MARS cut its yield estimate for this year's EU's soft wheat to 5.86 mt/ha from 6.10 mt/ha prior month, down 6.7% from last year, but 0.6% above the 5-year average (5.83 mt/ha)

- Russian farmers harvested 57.51 MMT of wheat from 59.9% of the planned area as of August 22, up from 44.66 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 3.47 mt/ha up from 3.17 mt/ha a year ago

- Russian farmers have planted 709,300 hectares of winter crops as of August 22 slightly down vs. 716,300 ha a year ago

CORN

- Aug 22 - Argentina grants export licenses for 30,112 MT of sorghum

- Aug 23 - China sold 148,059 MT of corn from state reserves, or 7.4% of the offered amount (1,988,518 MT), at average price of 1,616 RMB/mt (243 $/mt)

- Ukrainian Food Safety Service said that large areas of Ukrainian corn are infected with quarantine diseases banned in China. That's not correct because 1,796 ha infected areas on the Western Ukraine is not so large areas, it's only 0.04% from total 4.26 million ha over Ukraine

- US corn export inspections for week, ending August 18, reported 1,249,309 MT, topped market forecasts (1.0-1.2 MMT). Inspections for 2015/16 are running 0.9% ahead of year-ago

- USDA rated 75% of the US corn crop in good-to-excellent condition as of August 21, up 1% point from the previous week and ahead of market expectations of 73% (72-74% – range) and compared to 69% a year-ago

- MARS lowered its yield forecast for this year's EU's corn to 7.23 mt/ha from 7.42 mt/ha last month, but up 14.8% from 2015 (6.30 mt/ha) and by 4.4% above the five-year average (6.93 mt/ha)

- MARS trimmed its yield forecast for this year's EU's barley (winter and spring) to 4.88 mt/ha from 4.99 mt/ha last month, down 2.8% from last year (5.02 mt/ha), but 3.5% above the 5-year average (4.72 mt/ha)

- Russian farmers harvested 14.51 MMT of barley from 69% of the planned area as of August 22, up from 12.07 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 2.52 mt/ha up from 2.44 mt/ha a year ago

- China will extend anti-subsidy measures on imports of US broiler chicken products for a further five years, effective from August 30

SOYBEAN

- Aug 22 - USDA announced export sales of 120,000 MT of US soybeans to unknown destinations for delivery during 2016/17

- Aug 22 - Argentina grants export licenses for 23,600 MT of soymeal and 9,161 MT of sunflower meal

- US soybean export inspections for week, ending August 18, reported 961,414 MT, above the trade forecasts that ranged from 650,000 to 850,000 MT. Inspections for the 2015/16 marketing year are running 0.4% behind year-ago

- USDA rated 72% of the US soybean crop in good to excellent condition as of August 21, unchanged from a week earlier and matching analysts' expectations of 72% (71-72% – range), but ahead compared to 63% a year-ago

- Argentine July soybean crush was reported at 3.96 MMT, down from revised of 4.04 MMT in June and down 16.9% from last year

- Argentine July sunflower crush was reported at 213,600 MT, down from revised of 305,826 MT in June and down 24.8% from last year

- MARS lowered its yield estimate for this year's EU's rapeseed to 3.2 mt/ha from 3.22 mt/ha last month, down 4.1% from 2015 (3.34 mt/ha) but 0.1% above the 5-year average (3.2)

- MARS trimmed its forecast the EU's 2016 average sunflower yield to 2.05 mt/ha from 2.08 mt/ha in July. This is up 9.4% from 2015 (1.87 mt/ha) and 5.8% above the five-year mean (1.94 mt/ha)

- Russian farmers harvested 223,700 MT of rapeseed from 13.3% of the planned area as of August 22, down from 340,500 MT a year ago. Yields totalled 1.69 mt/ha down from 1.91 mt/ha a year ago
