WHEAT

- Aug 19 - Tunisia seeks 42,000 MT of optional origin durum wheat for shipment between Dec 25-Jan 25

- Aug 19 - South Korea's DongAone, Samyang Corp, Korea Flour Mills, Daesan Flour Mills are seeking 23,200 MT of US wheat (10,500 MT of white wheat, 6,100 MT of HRW wheat and 6,600 MT of DNS wheat) for Jan shipment

- Aug 18 - Argentina grants export licenses for 30,400 MT of low protein wheat

- Bangladesh has booked about 800,000 MT of wheat from the Black Sea region (Russia, Ukraine) for shipment between mid-July and October, up from around 550,000-600,000 MT in the same period last year. Buyers paid 155-168 $/mt fob for Black Sea feed wheat with about 10.5% protein content and 165-180 $/mt fob for Black Sea milling wheat with 11.5-12.5% protein. Bangladesh has also booked about 200,000 MT of higher quality Canadian milling wheat

- South African court has ordered the government to increase the tariff on wheat imports by 30% to 1,591 ZAR/mt, from 1,224 rand and publish the new tariff in the Government Gazette no later than 24 August 2016

- Weekly US wheat export sales data for week ended August 11 totalled 489,500 MT for 2016/17 (within trade expectations of 400-600 TMT). Export commitments for 2016/17 are running 21% ahead of year-ago

- EU in week ended August 16 granted licenses to export 538 TMT of soft wheat, bringing the total this season to 3.567 MMT vs. 2.87 MMT a year ago

- FranceAgriMer said 33% of soft wheat crops were in good and excellent condition as of August 15, unchanged from last week and well below the year-earlier score of 77%. French farmers harvested 97% of the soft wheat vs. 76% a week ago and 99% a year ago

- Germany's Farmers' Association (DBV) forecast Germany's 2016 winter wheat crop to drop 13% to 22.9 MMT

- Argentina's Ag Min trimmed 2016/17 wheat planting area estimate to 5.19 million hectares, down from 5.25 million before (4.37 mln ha in 2015/16)

- Japan's use of corn in animal feed was at 46.6% in June, steady versus May (46.6%) and 1.2% points above year-ago level (45.4% in June 2015). Its use of wheat rose to 1.8% from month ago at 1.7% and vs. 1.5% a year ago; while barley usage stayed at 3.4%, unchanged from prior month and year ago. Japan's sorghum usage in feed rations stood at 2.5% for June, unchanged from May (2.5%) but down 1.3% points from the year prior (3.8% in June 2015)

SOYBEAN

- Aug 19 - China sold 127,766 MT of soybean produced in 2012 and 2013 from state reserves, or 21.2% of the offered amount at an average price of 3,279 RMB/mt (493 $/mt)

- Aug 18 - Argentina grants export licenses for 50,000 MT of soybeans; 25,050 MT of soybean oil; 57,920 MT of soymeal and 7,766 MT of sunflower meal

- Weekly US soybean export sales data for week ended August 11 of 1,775,800 MT, incl. 177,900 MT for 2015/16 (within trade expectations of 100-300 TMT) and 1,597,900 MT for 2016/17 (matching trade expectations of 1.5-1.8 MMT). Total current marketing-year US soybean export sales are running 4% ahead the same point last year

- Buenos Aires Grains Exchange maintains its estimate for 2015/16 Argentine soy crop at 56 MMT (60.8 MMT in 2014/15). Harvesting of Argentine soybean crop was 100% completed as of August 18 vs. 99.5% last week

- Argentina's Ag Min kept its 2015/16 soy harvest estimate at 58.8 MMT unchanged from a prior projection and down 4.2% from 61.4 MMT in 2014/15

- Brazil's Ag Min said local crushers could import oilseed if it became necessary, adding that they've imported soy from the US in the past
