- South Africa's Crop Estimates Committee (CEC) expects winter wheat plantings this year at 486,350 hectares, which would be up 0.9% over last year's acreage

CORN

- Jul 27 - USDA announced export sales of 247,912 MT of US corn to unknown destinations for delivery during 2015/16 (74,064 MT) and 2016/17 (173,848 MT)

- Dr. Michael Cordonnier raised his US corn yield projection by 2 bushel per acre (bpa) from last week to 168 bpa, resulting in a 14.53-billion-bu crop (14.35 billion bu last week)

- Jul 27 - Argentina grants export licenses for 15,000 MT of corn

- Jul 26 - Argentina grants export licenses for 70,000 MT of corn

- Russian farmers harvested 4.02 MMT of barley from 13.8% of the planned area as of July 27, up from 3.43 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 3.49 mt/ha up from 3.21 mt/ha a year ago

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 7.39 MT of barley from 78% of the planned area as of July 26, up from 6.25 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 3.28 mt/ha up from 2.92 mt/ha a year ago

- South Africa's Crop Estimates Committee (CEC) raised its estimate of corn output this year to 7.262 MMT from 7.161 MMT last month. It would be 27.1% less than last year (9.955 MMT in 2015) and the smallest crop since 2007

- CEC kept its forecast of S. Africa's 2016 sorghum crop at 88,500 MT unchanged from previous (120,500 MT in 2015)

- US Ethanol production for the week ended July 22 decreased by 31,000 barrels to 998,000 barrels per day, up 3.4% from last year's level of 965,000 bpd. Stocks fell by 767,000 barrels from the week prior to 20.39 million barrels, up 3.8% vs. 19.648 million barrels a year ago

SOYBEAN

- Jul 27 - USDA announced export sales of 131,000 MT of US soybeans to China for delivery during 2015/16 (65 TMT) and 2016/17 (66 TMT)

- Jul 27 - Egypt's GASC did not receive any offers at vegoil tender for purchase at least 10,000 MT of sunseed oil and 15,000 MT of soyoil because terms of payment that has been recently changed, held back offers

- Jul 27 - Argentina grants export licenses for 150,180 MT of soymeal and 10,140 MT of soybean oil

- Dr. Michael Cordonnier left his projection for US 2016 soybean crop unchanged from prior week at 3.87-billion bu

- AGR Brasil says that area planted with soy in Brazil in 2016/17 should grow 2% to 33.8 million hectares as some farmers favour corn and soy crop could be 98 to 108 MMT

- Brazil's Amaggi group will acquire 50% of Bunge's Miritituba-Barcarena port terminals in northeastern Brazil
