- Jul 16 - Egypt's GASC bought 300,000 MT of Romanian and Russian wheat for August 21-30 delivery:

  • 120,000 MT of Romanian wheat from Ameropa at 174.33 $/mt c&f (167.67 $/mt fob+6.66 $/mt freight from Ameropa);
  • 60,000 MT of Romanian wheat from Cerealcom Dolj at 174.99 $/mt c&f (166.73 $/mt fob+8.26 $/mt freight from NNC);

- Jul 13 - Algeria's state grains agency OAIC has bought around 400,000-450,000 MT of milling wheat, likely from northern EU/Baltic Sea region (Baltic States, Germany and Poland) at 195-199 $/mt c&f for September shipment with some loadings also possible in October

- USDA estimated 76% of the US winter wheat crop was harvested as of July 17, ahead of last year's pace of 72% and 5-year mean of 73%, but behind analysts' forecasts of 77%

- USDA estimated 69% of the US spring wheat crop in good to excellent condition as of July 17, down 1% point from prior week and compared to 70% a year-ago, matching analysts' average expectation

- US wheat export inspections for week, ending July 14, recorded 439,484 MT, within the market forecasts (300-500 TMT). Inspections for 2016/17 are running 30.4% ahead of year-ago

- Russia's Ag Min said Russia exported about 583,800 MT of grain between July 1-13, 2016/17, up by 34.5% from 434,000 MT a year ago, including:

  • wheat – 383,500 MT (200,000 MT a year ago);
  • barley – 182,200 MT (137,000 MT);
  • corn – 10,900 MT (93,000 MT);

- Germany's association of farm cooperatives lowered its forecast of country's 2016 wheat crop to 25.4 MMT from June estimate of 25.7 MMT, a 4.4% reduction from last year

CORN

- Jul 22 - Indian state-run trading company PEC seeks 40,000 MT of non-GM yellow corn for Jul 25-Aug 15 shipment. The tender closes on July 22 and offers must remain valid up to July 29

- Jul 18 - Argentina grants export licenses for 40,000 MT of sorghum

- US corn export inspections for week, ending July 14, reported 1,327,509 MT, topped the market forecasts (1.0-1.3 MMT). Inspections for 2015/16 are running 3.4% behind year-ago

- USDA rated 76% of the US corn crop in good-to-excellent condition as of July 17, unchanged from the previous week and compared to 69% a year-ago, ahead of market expectations of 75%

- Germany's association of farm cooperatives expects the country's 2016 corn crop at 4.54 MMT, a 14.3% growth from last year

- Germany's association of farm cooperatives estimates the country's 2016 winter barley crop at 9.2 MMT, down 4.4% from last year; and spring barley crop at 1.94 MMT, down 2.9% from 2015

SOYBEAN

- Jul 19 - The lowest offers in Egypt's FIHC tender for 40,000 MT of soyoil and 20,000 MT of sunoil were 767 $/mt c&f (for 30,000 MT of soyoil from ADM) and 808 $/mt c&f (for 20,000 MT of sunoil from Glencore)

- Jul 15 - USDA announced export sales of 320,000 MT of US soybeans to unknown destinations for delivery during 2016/17

- NOPA said its members crushed 145.05 million bushels of soybeans during June, which fell slightly below expectations (145.418 million bu – avg., 140.8-149.0 mln bu – range) but that was a record for the month. NOPA processors crashed 152.28 mln bu in May and 142.473 mln bu a year ago. Soyoil stocks fell to 1.985 billion lbs as of June 30 from 1.994 a month earlier, slightly below expectations of 1.99 billion lbs but well above last year's level of 1.574 billion lbs. Soymeal exports fell to 594,710 tons from 682,500 tons in May and 596,573 tons a year ago

- US soybean export inspections for week, ending July 14, reported 367,380 MT, within the trade forecasts that ranged from 250,000 to 400,000 MT. Inspections for the 2015/16 marketing year are running 6.9% behind year-ago

- USDA rated 71% of the US soybean crop in good to excellent condition as of July 17, unchanged from previous week and compared to 62% a year-ago, in line with trade expectations

- Egypt has rejected four soybean shipments (two from Argentina and two from Ukraine) arrived in May and June and totaling more than 90,000 MT for containing white mold

- Jul 15 - China sold 300,386 MT of soybean from state reserves, or 99.7% of the offered amount (300,400 MT) at an average price of 3,357 RMB/mt; the sale included soybeans from the 2010 and 2012 crop years

- Canada is hopeful of striking an agreement with China before it toughens its shipping standard for Canadian canola
