- Jul 14 - Japan bought 180,714 MT of food wheat for Aug 21-Sept 20 shipment:

  • 29,300 MT of western white US wheat;
  • 28,580 MT of hard red winter US wheat;
  • 33,150 MT of dark northern spring US wheat;
  • 61,034 MT of Canadian western red spring wheat;
  • 28,650 MT of Australian standard white wheat for November shipment

- Jul 13 - Argentina grants export licenses for 17,000 MT of low protein wheat

- Lebanon has introduced stricter tests for wheat imports following the discovery of a carcinogen in wheat samples earlier this year. New wheat tests may cause longer unload times

- Strategie Grains lowered its forecast for 2016/17 EU soft wheat export by 900,000 MT to 29.0 MMT due to quality concerns for French wheat. Strategie Grains cut this year's soft wheat production estimate in the EU to 145.5 MMT from the previous outlook of 146.7 MMT and about 4% lower than the 2015 crop

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 3.74 MMT of wheat from 17% of the planned area as of July 12, slightly up from 3.73 MMT a year ago. Yields totaled 3.72 mt/ha up from 3.35 mt/ha a year ago

- Russian farmers harvested 12.22 MMT of wheat from 10.1% of the planned area as of July 13, up from 9.68 MMT a year ago. Yields totaled 4.38 mt/ha up from 3.76 mt/ha a year ago

- Kazakh farmers harvested 304,500 MT of all grains as of July 14, up from 160,600 MT a year ago. Yields totaled 2.04 mt/ha up from 1.58 mt/ha a year ago

- Kazakhstan's grain stocks as of July 1, 2016 accounted 3.54 MMT, including 3.1 MMT of wheat thereof 2.86 MMT of milling wheat compared to 5.27 MMT (incl. 4.69 MMT of wheat thereof 4.23 MMT of milling) a year ago

- USDA attaché projects Bulgaria's 2016/17 wheat crop at 5.15 MMT, slightly up from USDA's official projection of 5.0 MMT and up from 5.0 MMT in 2015/16 (4.76 MMT – USDA's official estimate)

- UK wheat exports rose in May to 348,288 MT, up from 243,134 MT in April and up 144% from a year-ago, including 182,146 MT to Spain, 62,999 MT to the US and 27,500 MT to Tunisia. Cumulative exports for the season, which started on July 1, 2015, totalled 2.573 MMT, up from 1.877 MMT in the same period during the prior season

- UK imported 121,771 MT of wheat in May, up from 91,109 MT in April but down 13% from a year-ago, including 30,912 MT from Sweden, 29,121 MT from Canada and 21,682 MT from the US. Britain's Jul-May wheat imports totaled 1.459 MMT vs. 1.529 MMT a year ago

CORN

- Strategie Grains cut its 2016 EU corn crop forecast to 61.7 MMT from the previous 62.2 MMT but that is still 8% higher than last year's crop

- Strategie Grains lowered its 2016 EU barley production forecast to 62.1 MMT from last month's 62.7 MMT

- UK imported 145,054 MT of corn in May, up from 130,036 MT in April and up 58% from a year-ago, including 49,128 MT from France, 37,785 MT from Ukraine and 29,181 MT from Ireland. Britain's Jul-May corn imports totaled 1.645 MMT vs. 1.744 MMT a year ago

- UK exported 126,522 MT of barley in May, down from 209,505 MT in April, but 125% above last year level. Top customers included Algeria (30,000 MT) and Tunisia (26,761 MT). Cumulative barley exports for 2015/16 climbed to 1.89 MMT compared to 1.364 MMT in Jul-May 2014/15 and the highest since 1996/97

- Russian farmers harvested 2.46 MMT of barley from 7.2% of the planned area as of July 13, up from 2.21 MMT a year ago. Yields totaled 4.03 mt/ha down from 3.87 mt/ha a year ago

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 3.81 MT of barley from 41% of the planned area as of July 12, up from 3.07 MMT a year ago. Yields totaled 3.33 mt/ha up from 2.98 mt/ha a year ago

- USDA attaché projects Bulgaria's 2016/17 corn crop at 2.65 MMT, slightly up from USDA's official projection of 2.6 MMT, but down from 2.69 MMT in 2015/16 (2.4 MMT – USDA's official estimate)

- USDA attaché projects Bulgaria's 2016/17 barley crop at 735 TMT, slightly up from USDA's official projection of 700 TMT, but down from 757 TMT in 2015/16 (760 TMT – USDA's official estimate)

- US Ethanol production for the week ended July 8 rose by 20,000 barrels to 1,004,000 barrels per day, up 2% from last year's level of 984,000 bpd. Stocks fell by 426,000 barrels from the week prior to 21.131 million barrels, up 7% vs. 19.74 million barrels a year ago

SOYBEAN

- Jul 19 - Egypt's FIHC seeks 40,000 MT of crude soyoil and 20,000 MT of crude sunflower oil for Aug 20- Sept 10 arrival

- Taiwan Sugar Corp made no purchase in its international tender to buy 10,000 MT of US soybeans for Oct-Nov shipment

- Jul 13 - Argentina grants export licenses for 22,777 MT of soymeal

- Jul 13 - Argentina grants export licenses for 6,044 MT of sunflower oil

- China imported 7.56 MMT of soybeans in June, down 1.3% compared to the previous month and a 6.6% drop from year-ago levels. However, for the first half of the year, imports have climbed 9.9% from a year ago to 38.56 MMT. China National Grains & Oils Information Center expects the country's imports to climb to 8.5 MMT in July, but then sharply decline over the next two months

- China's CNGOIC expects some 1.5 MMT of soybeans to be sold into the local market from reserves, they will begin sales on Friday, July 15, with 300,400 MT

- China's imports of all vegetable oils in June was 310,000 MT compared to 280,000 MT in May. For the first six months of the year China imported 2.43 MMT of vegoils, down 11% from a year ago

- Russian farmers harvested 80,300 MT of rapeseed from 4% of the planned area as of July 13, down from 119,100 MT a year ago. Yields totaled 1.97 mt/ha up from 1.55 mt/ha a year ago

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 326,000 MT of rapeseed from 24% of the planned area as of July 12, down from 431,000 MT a year ago. Yields totaled 2.45 mt/ha up from 2.12 mt/ha a year ago
