WHEAT

- Jun 29 - Tunisia bought 100,000 MT of soft milling wheat, 11.5% protein, from Nidera at between 177.25-178.77 $/mt c&f for Sep-Oct shipment and 109,000 MT of durum from Casillo and Glencore at between 269.21-273.68 $/mt c&f for Aug-Nov shipment

- Jul 12 - Morocco's ONICL seeks 133,000 MT of soft wheat in the local market for subsidized flour production

- Jun 29 - Argentina grants export licenses for 100,590 MT of milling wheat and 5,859 MT of wheat flour

- Russian farmers harvested 3.7 MMT of all grains as of June 29, up from 1.4 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 4.28 mt/ha up from 3.82 mt/ha a year ago

- Cocereal raised its projection for EU's 2016 soft wheat crop to 148 MMT, up 2.8 MMT from its March forecast but still down from last year's record of 150.3 MMT

- Stats Canada estimates Canada's 2016 total wheat plantings at 23.2 million acres down from 23.8 in April and vs. average expected 23.4 million acres, also down 3.9% from 2015, with the biggest decline being noted in spring wheat acres. However, durum wheat seeding were noted to increase 4.8% to total 6.1 million acres

- Thailand will in July auction 2.18 MMT of rice from stockpiles for export

CORN

- Jul 12 - Jordan seeks 100,000 MT of optional origin feed barley

- Jun 30 - South Korea's Kocopia bought 55,000 MT of US corn at 206.3 $/mt c&f

- Jun 29 - Tunisia bought 75,000 MT of optional origin feed barley for Aug 20-Oct 20 shipment:

  • 25,000 MT from Bunge at 161.55 $/mt c&f;
  • 25,000 MT from Bunge at 163.55 $/mt c&f;
  • 25,000 MT from Nidera at 165.82 $/mt c&f

- Jun 17 - Morocco's ONICL bought 67,500 MT of barley from the local market. The barley, which could be imported or come from the local harvest, will be redistributed as a subsidized grain. It is the sixth tender in a government plan to subsidise 800,000 MT of barley to support farmers

- Coceral decreased its EU's 2016 corn production forecast to 62.4 MMT from 63.2 MMT in March, but up 6.7% from 58.5 MMT in 2015

- Coceral increased its forecast for EU's 2016 barley harvest to 63.2 MMT, up 4.3 MMT over March forecast and better than the 61.1 MMT last season

- Stats Canada pegged Canada's 2016 corn plantings at 3.3 million acres down from 3.5 in April and vs. average expected 3.4 million acres, but marginally up from 2015

- Stats Canada estimates Canada's 2016 barley plantings at 6.4 million acres down from 6.8 in April and vs. average expected 6.7 million acres, also down 2.2% from 2015

- Stats Canada revealed that Canadian producers have seeded a record lentil crop this year to total 5.8 million acres which is up 47.8% from last year and above April's intention of 5.1 million acres

- US Ethanol production for the week ended June 24 rose by 41,000 barrels to 1,003,000 barrels per day, up 3.6% from last year's level of 968,000 bpd. Stocks increased by 57,000 barrels from the week prior to 21.167 million barrels, up 8.4% vs. 19.532 million barrels a year ago

SOYBEAN

- Jun 29 - Egypt's FIHC bought 30,000 MT of soybean oil from ADM at 755 $/mt for August 11-31 arrival

- Jun 29 - Argentina grants export licenses for 385,000 MT of soybeans; 967,930 MT of soymeal and 79,170 MT of soybean oil

- Argentine May soybean crush was reported at 4.34 MMT, up from revised of 3.73 MMT in April and up 20.9% from last year

- Argentine sunflower crush was reported at 210,852 MT, down from revised of 387,656 MT in April but up 120.2% from last year

- Coceral increased its forecast for EU's 2016 rapeseed harvest to 22.02 MMT, up 460 TMT over March forecast and better than the 21.74 MMT last season

- Coceral raised its projection for 2016 EU sunflower seed crop to 8.64 MMT from 8.33 MMT in March, up 12% from 7.71 MMT in 2015

- Coceral increased its projection for 2016 EU soybean crop to 2.45 MMT from 2.3 MMT in March, up 24% from 1.97 MMT in 2015

- Stats Canada estimates Canada's 2016 soybean acreage at 5.5 million, as expected, but up from 5.3 million acres in April and up 1% from 2015

- Additional rainfall from a potential La Nina is likely to improve palm fruit yields that will raise oil output in 2017

- Monsoon rains in India were 1% above average in the week ending June 29. The June-September monsoon has remained 12% lower than average so far, but rains have covered almost the entire country, and helped quicken the planting process of summer crops such as rice, soybeans, cotton and pulses
