WHEAT

- May 4 - Tunisia's state grains agency seeks 75,000 MT of optional origin durum wheat in 3 consignments of 25,000 MT for August 15-November 5 shipment

- Bulgaria's Ag Min said Bulgaria exported 1.572 MMT of wheat via port Varna between July 4-Apr 30, 2016/17, up 2.8% from a year-ago (1.529 MMT)

- European Commission (EC) trimmed its estimate for 2017 EU soft wheat crop to 141.948 MMT from 142.246 MMT last month, but up from 134.421 MMT last year. EU's executive left its EU soft wheat exports forecast at 28.91 MMT in 2017/18, above the 24 MMT in 2016/17. Soft wheat inventories in the region are forecasted at 12.218 MMT (12.392 MMT – previous estimate) by the end of June 2018, more than 11.844 MMT estimated for 2016/17

CORN

- May 5 - China plans corn auction from its state reserves on Friday, aiming to sell up to 2.5 MMT

- May 3 - Taiwan's MFIG group bought 65,000 MT of Argentine corn at a premium of 82.19 USc/bushel c&f over the Chicago December 2017 contract (around 186.8 USD/mt, c&f) for July 26-August 14 shipment

- May 2 - Argentina registered 147,293 MT of corn for export

- Argentina in April registered 1.493 MMT of corn for export

- Argentina in April registered for export 91,500 MT of feed barley, 140,260 MT of malting barley and 24,250 MT of malt

- Ukraine’s Ag Min estimated early spring grain planting 97% done as of May 3 (99% o as of May 4, 2016). Ukrainian farmers planted 2.3 million ha of spring crops, thereof 1.5 million ha of barley (or 94% of planned area) vs. 1.8 mln ha a year ago, 376,000 ha of peas (well above initial plan and vs. 225,000 ha a year ago), 195,000 ha of oats (or 94%) and 165,000 ha of wheat (or 93%)

- EC marginally decreased its 2017 EU corn harvest forecast to 66.519 MMT from 66.619 MMT last month (60.373 MMT in 2016). Projected imports in new season were lowered from prior month by 100,000 MT to 12.197 MMT (12.3 MMT in 2016/17). EC lowered its estimate for 2016/17 corn ending stocks to 11.61 from 12.191 MMT previously and decreased expected stocks at the end of 2017/18 to 13.442 MMT from 14.291 MMT in March

- EC raised its 2017 EU barley harvest outlook to 62.378 MMT from 62.138 MMT last month, up from 59.602 MMT in 2016. Projected exports in new season were upped from prior month by 0.5 MMT to 8.5 MMT (7.698 MMT in 2016/17). EC decreased its forecast for 2017/18 barley ending stocks to 6.291 MMT from 6.612 MMT previously, but up vs. 5.668 MMT in 2016/17

- US Ethanol production for the week ended Apr 28 decreased by 1,000 barrels to 986,000 barrels per day, up 6.8% from last year's level of 923,000 bpd. Stocks fell by 56,000 barrels from the week prior to 23.213 million barrels, up 4.6% vs. 22.201 million barrels a year ago

SOYBEAN

- May 2 - Argentina registered for export 12,920 MT of soymeal and 13,774 MT of soybean oil

- May 2 - Argentina registered for export 27,810 MT of sunoil and 8,800 MT of sunflower meal

- Informa Economics decreased its estimate of Argentina's 2016/17 soybean production to 56.8 MMT from 57.5 MMT previously

- Informa Economics raised its forecast of Brazil's 2016/17 soybean harvest to 113 MMT, up from its previous estimate of 111 MMT

- FC Stone raised its projection for the Brazilian 2016/17 soybean crop to 111.8 MMT from 111.6 MMT seen in April. Brazil's 2016/17 soybeans end stocks are expected at 7.58 MMT versus 1.48 MMT in 2015/16

- Brazil’s Trade Ministry reported April soybean exports at a record 10.432 MMT, up from 8.979 MT in March and above than 10.086 MMT a year ago. Also Brazil exported 1.328 MMT of soymeal in April versus 1.158 MMT the month before and 1.431 MMT a year ago; and 168,506 MT of soyoil compared to 101,637 MT in March and 75,823 MT a year ago
