The Ukrainian government and traders have agreed that no more than 1.2 million tonnes of Ukrainian food wheat will be exported between January 1 and June 30 2015.

According to the memorandum, signed by the minister and traders' unions, sales of milling wheat (but 1st-5th Grade wheat is considered as food wheat in Ukrainian government) will not exceed 0.9 mln. mt in the first quarter of 2015 and 0.3 mln. mt in the following three months.

But in January 2015 Ukraine already exported 0.7 mln. mt of wheat. And it is obviously that food wheat exports will exceed figures agreed in the Addendum 1 of the memorandum.

Will be this the reason to ban milling wheat exports or they just will sign addendum 2 with new figures?

The agreed document said Ukrainian overall wheat exports should not exceed 12.8 million tonnes this season, July to June. Ukraine exported 9.2 mln. mt of wheat in 2013/14.

There is possible jump in demand for Ukrainian wheat due to Russia's decision to curb sales
