Thailand Reduces Raisin Tariff to Five Percent Jan. 2, 2014
On November 12, 2013, Thailand’s Ministry of Finance approved a tariff reduction on raisin imports to 5 percent from 30 percent (HS code 0806.20), effective November 13, 2013.
In 2012, Thailand imported 1,502 metric tons of raisins valued at US$3 million. Post believes the tariff reduction will enable U.S. raisin imports to be more competitive in Thailand. Trade sources indicate that the lower tariff rates could push U.S raisin exports to exceed $4 million a year
