- Jun 15 - Algeria seeks at least 50,000 MT of durum wheat for Aug 16-Sep 15 shipment

- Jun 16 - Japan seeks 112,870 MT of food wheat for July 21-August 20 shipment:

  • 10,615 MT of western white US wheat;
  • 21,840 MT of hard red winter US wheat;
  • 28,855 MT of dark northern spring US wheat;
  • 29,620 MT of Canadian western red spring wheat;
  • 21,940 MT of Australian standard white wheat for October shipment

- Indonesian flour processor group APTINDO says that Indonesia's wheat imports could climb 35% to a record 10 MMT in 2016 (7.4 MMT in 2015), mostly thanks to the growing demand from feedmills. Around 80% of imports to be used for flour, the balance for feed

- Rosselkhoznadzor estimated Russian grain exports between Jul 1-Jun 14, 2015/16 at 36.35 MMT (incl. 23.79 MMT of wheat) compared with 36.39 MMT (22.19 MMT) in Jul 1-Jun 30 of 2014/15

- Jun 14 - China auctioned only 27,162 MT of state held reserve local wheat

- USDA estimated 61% of the US winter wheat crop good to excellent (G/E) as of June 12, down 1% point from a week earlier and compared to 43% a year-ago, below of analysts' forecasts of 62% (60-64% – range). Harvesting of US winter wheat crop was 11% completed as of June 12, ahead of last year's pace of 9% but behind 5-year mean of 18% and below of analysts' forecasts of 12% (8-18% – range)

- USDA estimated 79% spring wheat crop good to excellent as of June 12, unchanged from prior week and compared to 70% a year-ago

- US wheat export inspections for week, ending June 9, recorded 363,803 MT, within the market forecasts (250-450 TMT). Inspections for 2016/17 are running 7.2% ahead of year-ago

- Informa Economics updated its US planted acres estimate, increasing spring wheat to 11.93 million acres from May's estimate of 11.76 million. Informa left durum wheat unchanged from last month at 2.02 mln acres and slightly increased its estimate for all US wheat to 50.2 million acres versus May's estimate of 49.99 million

- All wheat import samples tested by Lebanon's public prosecutor met required standards except one that contained a higher-than-permitted level of the carcinogen ochratoxin

- Kazakhstan plans to export 7.0-7.5 MMT of grain in the upcoming 2016/17. The current marketing season ends June 30 and the country's grain exports for this season could reach 8.0 MMT

CORN

- Jun 14 - USDA announced export sales of 136,000 MT of US corn to Japan for delivery during 2015/16 (60 TMT) and 2016/17 (76 TMT)

- Jun 13 - Argentina grants export licenses for 200,000 MT of corn

- Jun 13 - USDA announced export sales of 115,000 MT of US sorghum to unknown destinations for delivery during 2015/16

- Jun 14 - China auctioned 1.544 MMT of domestic corn from government stockpile, about 74% of the offered amount (2.1 MMT), at an average price of 1,719 RMB/mt (260.79 $/mt). Also China auctioned 7,814 MT of imported corn of the 291,000 MT offered

- Informa Economics cut its estimate of U.S. corn plantings to 92.6 million acres, down from 93.4 million previously and below the USDA's forecast of 93.6 million

- US corn export inspections for week, ending June 9, reported 1,696,990 MT, well above the market forecasts (0.9-1.1 MMT). Inspections for 2015/16 are running 7.7% behind year-ago

- USDA rated 75% of the US corn crop in good-to-excellent condition as of June 12, unchanged from the previous week and compared to 73% a year-ago, ahead of market expectations of 74% (72-76% - range)

- USDA estimated US sorghum planting 76% complete as of June 12, compared to 67% last year and a 75% five-year average

- Safras & Mercado estimated Brazil second corn crop harvest at 5.6% complete vs. 1.5% last week and compared to 1% last year on this date

- Jun 14 - USDA announced export sales of 110,000 MT of US soybeans to unknown destinations for delivery during 2016/17

- Jun 13 - Argentina grants export licenses for 44,550 MT of soybean meal

- Cuba made its first US soyoil purchase in more than five years this month as South American supplies tighten. In an unusual move, the US sold 7,600 MT of soyoil to the Caribbean island in the first week of June

- Safras & Mercado says Brazilian farmers have sold 76% of crop versus 73% average for the date

- US soybean export inspections for week, ending June 9, reported 136,506 MT, within the trade forecasts that ranged from 100,000 to 250,000 MT. Inspections for the 2015/16 marketing year are running 7.9% behind year-ago

- USDA said the US soybean planting was 92% complete as of June 12, ahead a year-ago of 85% and the five-year average of 87%, matching the average trade estimates of 92% (89-94% – range). Soybean condition was rated as 74% good to excellent as of June 12, up 2% points from prior week and compared to 67% a year-ago, ahead of market expectations of 72% (69-74% – range)

- Informa Economics raised its estimate of US 2016 soybean planted area to 83.8 million acres, up from its May forecast of 83.0 million and above the USDA's March figure of 82.2 million

- Argentina's government is close to striking a deal with Monsanto Co over the inspection of shipments of genetically modified soybeans

- India imported 1.025 MMT of veg oils (edible & non-edible) in May vs. 1.249 MMT in April and vs. 1.372 MMT a year ago

- India's stock of edible oils as of June 1, 2016 at various ports is estimated at 865,000 MT (CPO 270,000 MT, RBD palmolein 250,000 MT, degummed soybean oil 210,000 MT, crude sunflower oil 110,000 MT and 25,000 MT of rapeseed (canola) oil) and about 1,465,000 MT in pipelines. Total stock at ports and in pipelines fell to 2.33 MMT from 2.44 MMT a month ago but above last year's 2.25 MMT. India's monthly requirement is about 1.65 MMT
