WHEAT

- May 25 - Algeria's OAIC bought around 130,000 MT of optional-origin durum wheat, likely from Mexico, at around 290 $/mt c&f for July-August shipment

- Egypt has bought 4.464 MMT of local wheat since the start of the season on April 15, surpassing a target of 4 MMT that was set by the government at the beginning of the season

- Russia's Ag Min said Russia exported about 32.28 MMT of grain between July 1-May 25, 2015/16, up by 12.3% from 28.752 MMT a year ago, including:

  • wheat – 23.367 MMT (20.494 MMT a year ago);
  • barley – 4.207 MMT (5.108 MMT);
  • corn – 4.394 MMT (2.689 MMT);
  • others – 312 TMT (461 TMT)

- Russia has 3,266,300 MT of grain in its federal intervention fund as of May 27

- China will auction wheat, rice and rapeseed oil from its state reserves between May 31 and June 2

- Jun 7 - South Korea's Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp seeks 70,556 MT of rice for Sept 2016-Feb 2017 delivery

- India will soon finalize a non-basmati rice exports contract with Indonesia in a rare government-to-government deal. India could ask the state-run Food Corporation of India to sell around 1 MMT of rice from its stockpile to Indonesia

CORN

- May 27 - USDA announced export sales of 130,000 MT of US corn to unknown destinations for delivery during 2015/16

- May 27 - Chinese processors purchased 889,094 MT of the 2.013 MMT put up for auction, or 44%. Purchases included 864,960 MT of 2012-crop domestic supplies at an average value of 1,537 RMB/mt (234 $/mt) and 24,134 MT of imported corn in 2011 and 2012 at an average price of 1,459 RMB/mt (222 $/mt)

- Safras & Mercado estimated Brazil's 2015/16 corn production at 78.9 MMT compared to last year's 88.4 MMT, including the second season crop at 52.1 MMT, down 4.1 MMT from last year

- South Africa's is still suffering the effects of a drought despite increased rainfall in May

SOYBEAN

- May 27 - Argentina grants export licenses for 46,400 MT of soybean; 80,368 MT of soybean oil and 750,850 MT of soymeal

- May 27 - USDA announced export sales of 110,000 MT of US soybeans to China for delivery during 2016/17

- May 27 - USDA announced export sales of 100,000 MT of US soybean cake and meal to unknown destinations for delivery during 2016/17

- Argentine April soybean crush was reported at 3.56 MMT, up from revised of 3.23 MMT in March but down 16.3% from last year

- Argentine April sunflower crush was reported at 383,512 MT, down from revised of 411,584 MT in March but up 11.1% from last year

- Oil World expects global 2016/17 sunseed production to reach unprecedented dimensions of 44.7 MMT, 7% above this season's volume and 10% above the most recent five-year average
