WHEAT

- May 25 - Algeria's OAIC seeks at least 50,000 MT of optional-origin durum wheat for July-August shipment

- May 25 - Israeli group seeks 20,000 MT of optional origin feed wheat

- May 20 - Argentina grants export licenses for 31,500 MT of low protein wheat

- Egypt has bought 3.832 MMT of local wheat since the start of the local procurement season on April 15, closing in on the target of 4.0 MMT

- Russia's Ag Min said Russia exported about 31.861 MMT of grain between July 1-May 18, 2015/16, up by 12.8% from 28.251 MMT a year ago, including:

  • wheat – 23.029 MMT (20.142 MMT a year ago);
  • barley – 4.176 MMT (5.017 MMT);
  • corn – 4.357 MMT (2.637 MMT);
  • others – 299 TMT (455 TMT)

- Rosselkhoznadzor estimated Russian grain exports between Jul 1-May 23, 2015/16 at 35.21 MMT (incl. 23.1 MMT of wheat) compared with 34.57 MMT (21.05 MMT) in Jul 1-May 31 of 2014/15

- Russia has 3,256,500 MT of grain in its federal intervention fund as of May 20

- China's April wheat imports up 25.3% on year to 302,409 MT. China's Jan-Apr wheat imports rose 43.6% on year to 858,688 MT

- Japan's April grain imports down 2.6% on year to 2.035 MMT, incl. 1.058 MMT from the US (-27.9%)

CORN

- May 25 - Israeli group seeks 108,000 MT of optional origin corn for July-August shipment and 15,000 MT of optional origin feed barley for August-September shipment

- May 24 - Taiwan's MFIG group seeks up to 65,000 MT of Argentine, Brazil, South African, or US origin corn for Aug 10-Sep 13 shipment depending on origin

- Oil World cut its forecast for Brazil's winter corn crop this year to 47-50 MMT compared with 54.6 MMT last year; total corn crop is seen at 74.5-77.5 MMT vs. 84.7 MMT in 2014/15

- Safras & Mercado forecasts the Brazilian second corn crop at 52.1 MMT down from the 56.03 MMT previously forecast

- China imported 1.155 MT of corn last month, up sharply from the month prior and year-ago level (+720.4% on year). Of April's total 1.014 MMT came from Ukraine, followed by 118,569 MT from the US. For the first four months of the year, China has imported 1.801 MMT of corn, up 31.1% from year-ago

- China imported 263,031 MT of distillers' dried grains (DDGS) in April, down 29.5% from March and down 56.6% from a year-ago. China's Jan-Apr DDGs imports rose 11.2% on year to 1.107 MMT

- China's April barley imports fell 75.3% on year to 248,095 MT. China's Jan-Apr barley imports dropped 67.4% on year to 1.195 MMT

- Iraq has extended a ban on live and frozen poultry product imports to include Italy and the US state of Missouri due to concerns over bird flu

SOYBEAN

- Oil World estimates 2015/16 Brazilian soybean crop at 98.0 MMT (97.2 MMT last year) and Argentine soybean crop at 55 MMT (60 MMT)

- Oil World says production deficit of 7 oilseeds will be larger than anticipated; now expects total consumption to exceed production by 4 MMT in the world crop season 2015/16

- China imported 7.071 MMT of soybeans during April up 33.2% from year-ago, mostly from Brazil (4.815 MMT) and the US (2.025 MMT). China's Jan-Apr soybean imports up 11.4% on year to 23.333 MMT, incl. 15.12 MMT from the US and 6.963 MMT from Brazil

- Japan's April soybean imports up 15.8% on year to 284,146 MT, incl. 253,536 MT from the US (+33.6%)

- China's April rapeseed imports down 17.5% on year to 287,015 MT. China's Jan-Apr rapeseed imports fell 4.6% on year to 1.208 MMT
