WHEAT

- Apr 21 - Japan bought 126,398 MT of food wheat for May 21-June 20 shipment:

  • 17,900 MT of western white US wheat;
  • 16,735 MT of hard red winter US wheat;
  • 31,703 MT of dark northern spring US wheat;
  • 34,510 MT of Canadian western red spring wheat;
  • 25,550 MT of Australian standard white wheat for August shipment

- Apr 20 - Philippines bought about 150,000 MT of optional origin feed wheat in three 50,000 MT consignments at 190.50; 189.50 and 186.25 $/mt c&f for June-September shipment depending on origin

- Bangladesh has rejected two cargoes of Russian wheat totalling 100,000 MT, due to quality issue:

  • One cargo of 50,000 MT was bought at 215.87 $/mt CIF liner out from ADM International. This cargo has been rejected after the lab test confirmed the quality did not match the specifications set out in the tender;
  • The second cargo of 50,000 MT, bought at 233.96 $/mt CIF liner out from Phoenix Commodities, was found with 1.08% foreign body content, higher than the permissible limit of 0.7%.

Russia supplied 943,000 MT of wheat to Bangladesh in July-February 2015/16

- IKAR pegs Russia's wheat crop at 62.5 MMT, an 8-year high, due to little winterkill and good spring weather

- Ukrainian grain stocks were at 12.93 MMT as of April 1, down 20% from a year earlier, incl. 6.28 MMT of wheat (5.29 MMT a year ago), 1.11 MMT of barley (1.21 MMT a year ago) and 4.93 MMT of corn (8.86 MMT a year ago). The data does not include grain stored at small farms

- USDA attaché reports Poland's 2016/17 grain production to rise 6% from last year to 29.5 MMT

CORN

- Apr 20 - USDA announced export sales of 136,000 MT of US corn for delivery to unknown destinations during 2015/16

- Apr 20 - Argentina grants export licenses for 200,026 MT of corn and 21,000 MT of barley

- Ukrainian farmers have sown 2.3 mln ha of early spring grain or 94% of the initial area as of April 20 vs. 2.0 mln ha a year ago. Ukraine's Ag Min estimates spring barley planting 92% (or 1.8 mln ha) done vs. 1.5 mln ha a year ago

- Ukraine's Ag Min estimated corn planting 30% (or 1.3 mln ha) done as of Apr 20 compare to 215,000 ha a year ago

- Russian Ag Min estimated spring planting 13.1% (or 6.9 mln ha) done as of April 20 vs. 4.2 mln ha a year ago. Of the total Russian farmers planted 4.2 mln ha of spring grain or 13.6% of planned area vs. 2.6 mln ha a year ago

- Russian farmers planted 812,900 ha of maize or 27.2% of planned area as of Apr 20 vs. 235,500 ha a year ago

- US Ethanol production for the week ended Apr 15 increased by 1,000 barrels to 939,000 barrels per day, up 0.9% from last year's level of 930,000 bpd. Stocks fell by 271,000 barrels to 22.046 million barrels, up 3.3% vs. 21.342 million barrels a year ago

SOYBEAN

- Apr 20 - Argentina grants export licenses for 965,030 MT of soybeans; 1,018,500 MT of soymeal and 178,275 MT of soybean oil

- Lanworth slashed its forecast for Argentina's soybean production by 1% to 62.7 MMT due to rainfall at harvest time. But it is above forecasts of other analysts and last year's crop

- Abiove left its forecast for Brazil's nearly harvested soybean crop unchanged at a record 99.7 MMT, export estimate kept at 55.3 MMT

- USDA attaché in Egypt expects for a record 2016/17 soybean imports of 2.42 MMT, up from 2.0 MMT in 2015/16, due to more crush capacity

- Ukrainian sunflower stocks were at 2.68 MMT as of April 1, down 5% from a year earlier. The data does not include grain stored at small farms

- Ukrainian farmers have sown 2 mln ha of sunflower or 40% of planned area as of April 20 vs. 661,000 ha a year ago

- Ukraine's Ag Min estimated soybean planting 11% (or 222,000 ha) done as of Apr 20 compare to zero a year ago

- Russian farmers have sown 969,900 ha of sunflower or 14% of planned area as of April 20 vs. 417,700 ha a year ago

- Russian farmers planted 54,200 ha of soybeans or 2.4% of planned area as of Apr 20 compare to zero a year ago
