WHEAT

- Apr 20 - Japan received no offers for 120,000 MT of feed wheat and 200,000 MT of feed barley in a simultaneous buy and sell (SBS) auction. New SBS tender for the same amounts for each grain will be held on April 27

- Apr 19 - Jordan has again made no purchase in an international tender to buy 100,000 MT of optional origin hard milling wheat and retender on April 26

- Apr 19 - Argentina grants export licenses for 45,063 MT of low protein wheat

- Egypt has purchased 10,000 MT of wheat from farmers in the first five days of the local procurement season. Egypt is planning to buy 4 MMT of domestic wheat in the local season which started on Friday, April 15

- There are talks that 5-6 MMT of wheat is “missing" from government stocks in Punjab, India, despite assurances by the state government that all the stocks procured have been accounted for. As of April 1, India's grain stocks were estimated at 14.8 MMT. Traders note that if the stocks disappearance were true, it would drastically change the supply situation, putting opening stocks at a 10-year low

- Japan's March grain imports down 5.4% on year to 2.167 MMT, incl. 951,075 MT from the US (-37.6%)

- Russia's Ag Min lowered winter kill estimate from 9% to 5%

- Agritel estimated Russia's 2016 wheat production at 62.3 MMT

CORN

- Apr 19 - USDA announced export sales of 241,516 MT of US corn for delivery to unknown destinations during 2015/16 (65,766 MT) and 2016/17 (175,750 TMT)

- Apr 19 - Argentina grants export licenses for 250,056 MT of corn

- SAGIS says South Africa imported white maize from the US last week for the first time since 2004

- Brazil's government decided on Tuesday, Apr 19, to eliminate an import tax on corn shipments from countries outside the Mercosur trade bloc. Corn shipments would be exempt from the tax that varies from 8 to 10% for a period of six months, up to a maximum amount of 1 MMT

- Dr. Michael Cordonnier lowered his Brazilian corn crop forecast for a second consecutive week by 1 MMT to 82 MMT (85.4 MMT in 2014/15), but left unchanged Argentine corn peg at 25 MMT (27 MMT in 2014/15)

- Dr. Michael Cordonnier trimmed his estimate of South America's 2015/16 corn crop this week from 112.3 to 111.3 MMT and vs. 116.2 MMT in 2014/15

SOYBEAN

- Apr 19 - USDA announced export sales of 380,000 MT of US soybeans for delivery to Mexico during 2015/16 (47,500 MT) and 2016/17 (332,500 MT)

- Apr 19 - USDA announced export sales of 105,412 MT of US soybean cake and meal for delivery to unknown destinations during 2015/16 (55,212 MT) and 2016/17 (50,200 MT)

- Apr 19 - Argentina grants export licenses for 10,089 MT of soymeal and 16,826 MT of soybean oil

- Apr 19 - Argentina grants export licenses for 22,240 MT of sunflower meal and 2,490 MT of sunflower oil

- Dr. Michael Cordonnier lowered his Argentine soybean crop forecast by 1.5 MMT to 59 MMT (60.8 MMT in 2014/15), but left unchanged estimate for Brazil at 98.5 MMT (96.2 MMT in 2014/15). Cordonnier also lowered his soybean crop estimate for Uruguay by 500,000 MT to 3 MMT due to heavy rains

- Dr. Michael Cordonnier trimmed his estimate of South America's 2015/16 soybean crop to 172.3 MMT from previous estimate of 174.3 MMT and vs. 171.4 MMT in 2014/15

- Japan's March soybean imports down 10.4% on year to 332,382 MT, incl. 299,839 MT from the US (-7.2%)
