WHEAT

- Apr 28 - Ethiopia seeks 60,000 MT of milling wheat

- Apr 21 - Thailand seeks at least 162,600 MT of optional origin feed wheat in three consignments for shipment in October, November and December

- Apr 14 - Algeria's OAIC bought around 200,000 MT of durum wheat, likely from Mexico, at around 272-273 $/mt c&f for June shipment

- Apr 15 - Argentina grants export licenses for 100,000 MT of low protein wheat

- Israel has in past days purchased around 5,000 MT of feed wheat from the Black Sea region at around 175 $/mt c&f for May shipment. Ukrainian feed wheat is currently being offered to Israel at about 177 $/mt c&f for shipment in the second half of May

- Russia's Ag Min said Russia exported about 29.428 MMT of grain between July 1-Apr 13, 2015/16, up by 9.1% from 26.974 MMT a year ago, including:

  • wheat – 21.43 MMT;
  • barley – 3.958 MMT;
  • corn – 3.78 MMT;
  • others – 260 TMT

- Rosselkhoznadzor estimated Russian grain exports between Jul 1-Apr 18, 2015/16 at 32.5 MMT (incl. 21.44 MMT of wheat) compared with 32.93 MMT (20.46 MMT) in Jul 1-Apr 30 of 2014/15

- Russian grain stocks were at 23.3 MMT as of April 1, up 1.6% from a year earlier (22.9 MMT as of Apr 1, 2015). The data does not include grain stored at small farms

- Russia has 3,189,900 MT of grain in its federal intervention fund as of April 15

- AgroChart raised its forecast of the 2016 Ukrainian wheat crop to 20.4 MMT from 19.5 MMT in March, but down 23% from 26.5 MMT in 2015

- Agritel also increased its forecast for 2016 wheat production in Ukraine to 19.3 MMT from 17.2-18.1 MMT in December, after favourable weather and spring sowing improved harvest prospects

CORN

- Apr 15 - USDA announced export sales of 344,200 MT of US corn for delivery to unknown destinations during 2015/16

- Apr 15 - Argentina grants export licenses for 530,000 MT of corn

- Brazil's winter corn crop is being stressed by dry conditions

- Zambia's government will start regulating the price of staple maize meal milled from subsidized grain bought from its Food Reserve Agency. The state sold more than 750,000 MT of maize to selected millers at a subsidised price of about 170 $/mt to keep local maize meal prices affordable

SOYBEAN

- Apr 15 - USDA announced export sales of 132,000 MT of US soybeans for delivery to China during 2016/17

- NOPA said its members crushed 156.69 million bushels of soybeans in March 2016, up from 146.181 million bu the previous month, but down 3.8% from the 162.822 million bu crushed in the same month last year. The figure slightly above an average of analyst estimates for 156.248 million bu (152.9-158.6 – range). Soyoil stocks climbed to 1.859 billion lbs as of March 31 from 1.792 a month earlier, below expectations of 1.874 billion lbs (1.84-1.918 – range), but above last year's level of 1.42 billion lbs. Soymeal exports in March totaled 779,100 MT, up from 686,999 MT a month ago and vs. 757,165 MT a year ago

- Argentina's key production areas have received too much rain of late, with more on the way. That has caused delays both in the field and at port

- Malaysia will keep its crude palm oil export tax at 5% for the second consecutive month in May. Malaysia calculated a reference price of 2,531.53 MYR/mt (649.11 $/mt) for May

- Indonesia state oil company Pertamina and AKR Corporindo will buy up to 1.6 million kilolitres of unblended biodiesel , or palm methyl ester (PME), for May to October, down from the 1.87 million kilolitres (kl) in supply quotas the two companies awarded for November 2015 to April 2016

- India imported 1.19 MMT of veg oils (edible & non-edible) in March vs. 1.111 MMT in February and vs. 1.063 MMT a year ago

- India imported 6.265 MMT of edible veg oils in Nov-Mar 2015/16 vs. 5.257 MMT in the same period of 2014/15

- India imported 428,856MT of crude palm oil in March vs. 423,135 MT in February and vs. 616,402 MT a year ago

- India imported 208,376 MT of RBD palmolein in March vs. 177,806 MT in February and vs. 51,576 MT a year ago

- India imported 321,975 MT of soybean oil in March vs. 380,121 MT in February and vs. 191,150 MT a year ago

- India imported 184,162 MT of sunflower oil in March vs. 87,028 MT in February and vs. 162,096 MT a year ago

- India imported 26,863 MT of rapeseed oil in March vs. 17,336 MT in February and 18,264 MT a year ago

- India's stock of edible oils as of April 1, 2016 at various ports is estimated at 890,000 MT (CPO 250,000 MT, RBD palmolein 170,000 MT, degummed soybean oil 310,000 MT, crude sunflower oil 135,000 MT and 25,000 MT of rapeseed (canola) oil) and about 1,420,000 MT in pipelines. Total stock at ports and in pipelines decreased to 2.31 MMT from 2.36 MMT a month ago, but above last year's 2.01 MMT. India's monthly requirement is about 1.65 MMT
