- Feb 26 - Saudi Arabia's state grain buyer (Saudi Grains Organisation (SAGO)) bought 870,000 MT of hard wheat (12.5% protein) of European, North and South American and Australian origin at an average price of 188.22 $/mt c&f in 14 consignments for April-June shipment to the ports of Jeddah (575 TMT), Dammam (240 TMT) and Jizan (55 TMT):

- Switzerland's ADM International has secured a tender to supply 50,000 MT of wheat to Bangladesh after submitting the lowest offer of 211.45 $/mt c&f. This tender closed 26 Jan and was the third international wheat purchase tender issued by the Directorate General of Food since the current financial year started in July. The origin of the wheat of the latest deal could be Russia or India; the state buyer was receiving Russian wheat in the previous two tenders

- Russia's Ag Min said Russia exported about 24.653 MMT of grain between July 1-Feb 24, 2015/16, up by 1.9% from 24.189 MMT a year ago, including:

  • wheat – 18.367 MMT (18.792 MMT a year ago)
  • barley – 3.49 MMT (3.654 MMT)
  • corn – 2.592 MMT (1.404 MMT)
  • others – 204 TMT (339 TMT)

- Rosselkhoznadzor estimated Russian grain exports between Jul 1- Feb 29, 2015/16 at 27.6 MMT (incl. 18.81 MMT of wheat) compared with 28.53 MMT (19.23 MMT) in Jul 1- Feb 28 of 2014/15

- Russia's Ag Min sees no need to remove or revise wheat export tax so far

- Russia has 2,974,100 MT of grain in its federal intervention fund as of February 26

- Abares forecasts 2016/17 Australian wheat production at 24.5 MMT vs 24.2 MMT in 2015/16

Mar 8 - Iraq seeks at least 30,000 MT of rice optionally from the US, Uruguay or Argentina. The tender closes on March 8 and offers must remain valid until March 14

CORN

- Malawi will import 50,000 MT of the staple maize from Tanzania to avert hunger after a drought

- China to cut domestic corn price to fight imports. Some market participants believe China may cut the state corn price to 1,400 RMB/mt ($213.85) for the 2016/17 crop year sharply down from 2,000 RMB/mt during 2015/16

- Abares forecasts 2016/17 Australian barley production at 8.6 MMT vs 8.49 MMT in 2015/16

SOYBEAN

- Oil World expects global stocks of soybeans to increase by 3 MMT to a new high of around 90 MMT this season, approximately 28.5% of annual consumption

- Oil World says Argentina will probably boost soybean crushings by 6.0 MMT to an unprecedented 46.2 MMT in 2015/16 (Oct-Sept)

- Abares forecasts 2016/17 Australian canola crop at 3.27 MMT vs 2.95 MMT in 2015/16

- Surveyor SGS estimated Malaysia's Feb 1-29 palm oil exports at 955,604 MT down 16.9% from a month ago

- Surveyor Intertek Testing Services estimated Malaysia's Feb 1-29 palm oil exports at 943,135 MT down 17.7% from a month ago
