WHEAT

- Feb 16 - Jordan seeks 100,000 MT of optional origin hard milling wheat

- Feb 10 - Tunisia purchased some 75,000 MT of optional origin milling wheat:

  • 25,000 MT from Nidera at 178.91 $/mt c&f for shipment between May 20-30
  • 25,000 MT from Nidera at 179.41 $/mt c&f for shipment between June 1-10
  • 25,000 MT from Soufflet at 179.33 $/mt c&f for shipment between June 10-20

- French Ag Min holds its estimate of new crop winter wheat area at 80-year high of 5.2 mln hectares, up 1.1% from last year (5.14 mln ha in 2015/16) and above the five-year average of 4.98 mln ha. The ministry expects durum wheat sowings to rise 10.7% on year to 351,000 ha

- Bloomberg poll sees Indian wheat crop at 84.5 MMT, down 5% from last year and the lowest since 2009/10, following two successive drought years. Indian millers ask government to scrap import tax

- Feb 23 - Syria seeks 8,113 MT of white long grain rice for delivery between May 15 and Dec 15

CORN

- Feb 10 - USDA announced export sales of 243,000 MT of US corn for delivery to Japan during 2016/17

- Feb 10 - Tunisia bought some 75,000 MT of optional origin feed barley:

  • 25,000 MT from Soufflet at 173.53 $/mt c&f for shipment between March 20-30
  • 25,000 MT from Soufflet at 174.24 $/mt c&f for shipment between May 1-10
  • 25,000 MT from Soufflet at 174.24 $/mt c&f for shipment between May 10-20

- Feb 8 - Morocco purchased 106,000 MT of barley in the local market

- Lanworth raised its forecast for 2015/16 Brazilian corn production by 3% to 85 MMT

- Lanworth lowered its forecast for 2015/16 Argentine corn production by 3% to 27.4 MMT

- Lanworth raised its estimate for 2015/16 Paraguayan corn production by 5% to 3.5 MMT

- French Ag Min raised its estimate of the winter barley area to 1.36 million hectares, up from 1.32 mln in its first estimate in December. This put the area 4.1% above the 2015 level (1.3 mln ha) and 18.5% above the five-year average (1.15 mln ha)

- US Ethanol production for the week ended Feb 5 rose by 10,000 barrels to 969,000 barrels per day, it is up 0.8% from last year's level of 961,000 bpd. Meanwhile, stocks climbed by 594,000 barrels to 22.956 million barrels, up 8.6% vs. 21.135 million barrels a year ago

SOYBEAN

- Lanworth maintains its estimate for 2015/16 Brazilian soybean production at 103 MMT

- Lanworth lowered its forecast for 2015/16 Argentine soybean production to 60.7 MMT

- Lanworth maintains its estimate for 2015/16 Paraguayan soybean production at 9.7 MMT

- Russia is planning to substitute imports of soybeans from the United States with deliveries from the Latin American countries. Rosselkhoznadzor earlier said it would impose, starting February 15, a temporary ban on imports of corn and soybeans from the US, citing bacterial contamination in recent shipments

- French Ag Min raised its estimate of the winter rapeseed area to 1.49 million hectares, up from 1.46 mln estimated in December. This was now 0.8% higher than in 2015 (1.48 mln ha) but 1.3% below the five-year mean (1.51 mln ha)
