WHEAT

- Jan 27 - Jordan bought 100,000 MT of hard wheat, probably Romanian, EU, Black sea, from Dolge at 209 $/mt c&f with consignments for shipment in the first and second half of June

- Jan 29 - Russia will consider removing or cutting an export tax on wheat

- South Africa's Crop Estimates Committee (CEC) left its estimate of South Africa's 2015 wheat crop at 1.501 MMT unchanged from previous forecast, but down from 1.75 MMT in 2014. It's the lowest since 2011

- Lanworth slightly raised its forecast for 2016/17 US winter wheat production to 40.8 MMT

- Lanworth raised its forecast of China's 2016/17 wheat production to 130 MMT

- Lanworth maintains its forecast of Ukraine's 2016/17 wheat production at 24 MMT

CORN

- Jan 27 - Algeria (OAIC) bought 150,000 MT of feed barley, probably from France and the UK, at around 175 $/mt c&f

- China buys more corn than expected in 2015/16 state stockpile. According to JCI, China's Sinograin has bought 77.3 MMT of corn into the reserve so far this crop year season with total reserve stocks now 228 MMT

- China to cut domestic corn prices to spur demand, cut imports

- China vows tougher regulation of genetically modified crops

- South Africa's Crop Estimates Committee (CEC) released the first estimates of domestic corn production for the 2016 crop. CEC forecasts 7.44 MMT of corn output this year (9.94 MMT in 2015), the smallest crop since 2007, but above average market expectations (6.86 MMT)

- Zambia has a deficit of 200,000 MT of maize in the current 2015/16 crop season and might need to import exactly that volume of corn

- Rosario Grain Exchange says drought in northeastern Buenos Aires state is threatening the maize crop

- Jan 29 - Russia will consider imposing export tax on barley and corn

- Allendale forecasts US corn acres at 89.2 mln vs. 88 mln last year

- US Ethanol production for the week ended Jan 22 fell by 22,000 barrels to 961,000 barrels per day, it is down 1.7% from last year's level of 978,000 bpd. Stocks dropped by 504,000 barrels to 21.436 million barrels, but up 3.9% vs. 20.631 million barrels a year ago

SOYBEAN

- Allendale forecasts US soybean acres at 83.6 mln vs. 82.7 mln last year

- Russia had discussed banning corn imports from the US recently but now possibly adding soybeans to that list, all for phytosanitary reasons. Russia doesn't generally import US corn, but have purchased around 300,000-450,000 MT of US soybeans (annually) in recent marketing years

- CEC in its first forecast expects S. Africa's 2016 soybean crop at 768,560 MT, down 27.5% from 1.06 MMT in 2015

- CEC forecasts S. Africa's 2016 sunflower crop at 622,000 MT, down 5.9% from 660,900 MT in 2015

- Jan 27 - China sold 72,000 MT of rape oil from reserve out of 102,000 MT offered on auction
