- Jan 26 - Russia bought 26,460 MT of intervention grain (all wheat) via tender on the NTB (Moscow Exchange). Making the total bought since Aug 20 at 1,430,730 MT of Russian grain (1,392,525 MT of wheat, 17,685 MT of rye and 20,520 MT of barley). Separately Russia bought 59,046 MT of Crimean wheat in intervention fund between Aug 19-Jan 20 via tenders on Crimean Exchange

- US wheat export inspections for week, ending January 21, recorded 187,903 MT, below of market forecasts (299-408 TMT). Inspections for 2015/16 are running 11.2% behind year-ago

- Argentina's wheat exports are expected to more than double to 9.8 MMT in the year to June 2017. So Argentina to get back its former market share at the expense of other exporters

- South African Crops Estimation Committee (CEC) is due out Wednesday, Jan 27, with its first estimate of the new crop maize numbers, and the average trade guess is pretty low at 6.86 MMT, down 31% from last year

- China imported just 133,117 MT of corn last month, which was a 78% decrease from last year but above from November (18,674 MT). Corn purchases in 2015 (Jan-Dec) stand at a record 4.7 MMT, an 82% increased from previous year
