WHEAT

- Jan 22 - Tunisia purchased some 92,000 MT of optional origin milling wheat:

  • 25,000 MT from Dreyfus at 181.44 $/mt c&f for shipment between April 20-30
  • 17,000 MT from Casillo Commodities at 184.69 $/mt c&f for shipment between April 20-30
  • 25,000 MT from ADM at 181.61 $/mt c&f for shipment between May 10-20
  • 25,000 MT from Casillo Commodities at 181.69 $/mt c&f for shipment between May 10-20

- Thailand bought a lot of Argentine feed wheat over the past week

- Russia's Ag Min said Russia exported about 21.344 MMT of grain between July 1-Jan 20, 2015/16, down by 3% from 22.088 MMT a year ago, including:

  • wheat – 15.973 MMT (17.341 MMT a year ago)
  • barley – 3.293 MMT (3.273 MMT)
  • corn – 1.899 MMT (1.195 MMT)
  • others – 177 TMT (279 TMT)

- Russia has 2,715,700 MT of grain in its federal intervention fund as of January 21

- Rosselkhoznadzor estimated Russian grain exports between Jul 1- Jan 25, 2015/16 at 24.27 MMT (incl. 16.91 MMT of wheat) compared with 26.4 MMT (18.48 MMT) in Jul 1- Jan 31 of 2014/15

- Russia's Ag Min considers imposing tougher limits on grain exports until the new crop comes available this summer, reportedly due to the rising cost of pork

- Japan's December grain imports down 0.9% on year to 1.904 MMT, incl. 25,654 MT from the US (-61.4%)

- Bulgarian Ag Min said that Bulgaria exported 1.1 MMT of wheat since start of current season, up 64% on year

- Preliminary official data showed that Ukraine harvested 59.96 MMT of grain by clean weight in 2015, down from 63.86 MMT in 2014. The wheat harvest totaled 26.49 MMT in 2015, up from 24.1 MMT the previous year

CORN

- Indian state-run trading company PEC has made a purchase from South Korean trading house Daewoo International of 225,500 MT of yellow corn likely to be sourced from Ukraine in an international tender which closed earlier in January:

  • 40,000 MT at 191.99 $/mt c&f for Jan 27-Feb 17 shipment
  • 40,500 MT at 191.99 $/mt c&f for Feb 8-27 shipment
  • 65,000 MT at 193.49 $/mt c&f for Jan 27-Feb 17 shipment
  • 45,000 MT at 192.99 $/mt c&f for Feb 1-20 shipment
  • 35,000 MT at 192.99 $/mt c&f for Jan 27-Feb 17 shipment

- Jan 22 - Tunisia bought some 50,000 MT of optional origin feed barley for shipment between March 25 and April 25:

  • 25,000 MT from ADM at 176.11 $/mt c&f
  • 25,000 MT from ADM at 177.71 $/mt c&f

- There was talk that China bought 120 TMT of US corn from PNW and 300 TMT of Ukrainian corn

- China imported 130 TMT of corn in December compared to 607 TMT a year ago

- Chinese government would let the market determine corn prices, and state support prices will no longer play a role in subsidizing farmers, to help cap imports and record high state stockpiles

- Zimbabwe received a $200 mln loan from the Afreximbank to import maize

- Brazil's government announced that they will be auctioning off 500 TMT of corn from public stocks to help take pressure off domestic prices. Conab will auction off 150 TMT of corn on Feb 1. The corn will come from government inventories in Mato Grosso, Goias, Mato Grosso do Sul, and Rio Grande do Sul and will be offered to livestock producers

- Preliminary official data showed that Ukraine harvested 23.22 MMT of corn by clean weight in 2015, down from 28.5 MMT in 2014. Barley crop in 2015 declined to 8.28 MMT from 9.05 MMT in 2014

SOYBEAN

- Feb 7 - Iraq seeks at least 10,000 MT of sunflower oil from worldwide origins except China

- Indonesia revised its target for soybean production this year to 1.2 MMT, down from a previous target of 1.5 MMT

- Japan's December soybean imports up 6.5% on year to 243,733 MT

- Oil World said Argentine soybean crushings were smaller than expected at 2.61 MMT in December 2015, but cumulative processing reached a record 40.9 MMT in the full calendar year, 3.0 MMT above a year earlier

- Solvent Extractors's Association (SEA) said India's edible oil imports could rise as much as 11% to a record 16 MMT in the 2015/16 marketing year started on Nov 1. In 2014/15, India had imported a record 14.4 MMT

- Surveyor Intertek Testing Services estimated Malaysia's Jan 1-25 palm oil exports at 924,983 MT down 8.5% from a month ago

- Preliminary official data showed that Ukraine harvested a record 3.92 MMT of soybeans by clean weight in 2015 (3.88 MMT in 2014), and record sunflower seed output at 11.17 MMT (10.13 MMT). Meanwhile rapeseed crop declined to 1.74 MMT from 2.2 MMT in 2014

- Oil World said higher than expected sunseed production and crushings in the CIS countries are seen boosting global sun oil export supplies beyond previous forecasts this season. Oil World expects exports to increase by 0.7 MMT to 8.0 MMT in Oct-Sept 2015/16. The EU will be the key growth market for sun oil, absorbing at least 1.2 MMT of available export supplies
