WHEAT

- Dec 30 - Jordan bought 100,000 MT of wheat at 218 $/mt c&f for last half April-first half May shipment

- Egypt's Ag Min says goal is to produce 80% of its wheat needs by 2018; that figure is closer to 40% currently with production at 8.0-8.5 MMT and total consumption at 18.5-19.5 MMT

- Two Illinois flour mills near the Mississippi River and operated by Ardent Mills were shuttered because of flooding this week

- There are some support from a weather market - flooding in the US and the threats of cold snap for the EU and Black Sea crops

- Dec 29 - South Korea's Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp. bought a total of 44,639 MT of non-glutinous rice for arrival between March and June, 2016:

  • 10,000 MT of Chinese Milled Short rice from Sinsong Food Corp at 998.00 $/mt
  • 5,000 MT of US Milled Medium rice from Sinsong Food Corp at 865.18 $/mt
  • 5,000 MT of US Milled Medium rice from Sinsong Food Corp at 865.19 $/mt
  • 10,000 MT of US Milled Medium rice from Sinsong Food Corp at 875.09 $/mt
  • 9,083 MT of Chinese Brown Short rice from Daewoo Int'l Corp at 890.00 $/mt
  • 5,556 MT of US Brown Medium rice from Sinsong Food Corp at 711.40 $/mt

CORN

- India will soon allow duty-free imports of 500,000 MT non-GM corn to state-run traders such as PEC Ltd after the second straight drought cut output, in what would be the country's first overseas purchase in 16 years

- US Ethanol production for the week ended Dec 25 rose by 19,000 barrels to 992,000 barrels per day, it is up 2% from last year's level of 972,000 bpd. Meanwhile stocks fell by 221,000 barrels to 20.166 million barrels, but still up 11.5% vs. 18.094 million barrels a year ago

PALM OIL

- Surveyor Intertek Testing Services estimated Malaysia's Dec 1-31 palm oil exports at 1,272,162 MT down 5.4% from a month ago

- Surveyor SGS estimated Malaysia's Dec 1-31 palm oil exports at 1,272,150 MT down 5.9% from a month ago
