WHEAT

- Dec 14 - Jordan's Silos and Supply General Company (JSSGC) is seeking 25,000 MT of hard milling wheat for Jan 1-25 shipment

- UAE's Al Dahra had signed an agreement with Jordan for the provision of 400,000 MT of wheat and 400,000 MT of barley over two years to improve the country's food security

- Statistics Canada raised its all wheat crop estimate from 26.06 to 27.594 MMT, well above the average market expectation of 26.7 MMT, but still 6.2% lower than year-ago (29.42 MMT in 2014). The durum harvest of 5.389 MMT was upped from prior estimate of 4.74 MMT, surpassed the average trade estimate of 5.1 MMT and last year's 5.19 MMT

- French Ag Min puts first estimate of new crop winter wheat area at 5.22 mln hectares up 1.5% from last year (5.17 mln ha in 2015/16) and above the five-year average of 4.98 mln ha. The ministry expects durum wheat sowings to rise 11.6% on year to 354,000 ha

- Russia's Ag Min said Russia exported about 16.69 MMT of grain between July 1-Dec 2, 2015, down by 8.6% from 18.267 MMT a year ago, including:

  • wheat – 12.547 MMT (14.604 MMT a year ago)
  • barley – 2.684 MMT (2.642 MMT)
  • corn – 1.32 MMT (823 TMT)
  • others – 140 TMT (198 TMT)

- Russian exports of wheat decreased to 16.1 MMT in the first ten months of 2015 from 18.1 MMT a year ago

- Russia bought 999,810 MT of Russian grain (968,760 MT of wheat, 12,825 MT of rye and 18,225 MT of barley) between Aug 20-Dec 2 via tenders on the NTB (Moscow Exchange). Separately Russia bought 59,045 MT of Crimean wheat in intervention fund between Aug 19-Dec 2 via tenders on Crimean Exchange

- Russia has 2,143,600 MT of grain in its federal intervention fund as of December 3

- Favorable weather has improved the condition of Ukrainian winter grain crops sown for the 2016. The area of sprouted crops rose to 83% as of Dec 3 from 80% as of Nov 26, but still down from 95% last year. About 66% of emerged crops were in good to satisfactory condition up from 64% as of Nov 26, but down from 82% last year

- Indian farmers have grown winter-sown crops on 37.03 mln ha so far this year, down 15.6% from a year earlier, due to El Nino. Wheat was planted on 15.3 mln ha vs. 20.9 mln ha last year, oilseeds – on 6.2 mln ha vs. 6.9 mln ha, pulses – on 10 mln ha vs. 10.6 mln ha

- South Africa will increase duties on wheat imports to the highest on record of 1224.31 rand/mt (85 $/mt) from the current level of 911.2 rand/mt. The tariff increase might be good support for domestic farmers as they are at the final harvesting stages, roughly 95% complete

CORN

- Safras & Mercado raised 2015/16 Brazil corn forecast to 89.3 MMT from 88.6 MMT previously

- Oil World estimated Sept-Nov 2015 Brazilian corn exports at a record 13.8 MMT, up 4.9 MMT on the year

- China's Jilin province increases industrial subsidy for reserve corn use from 150 to 350 RMB/MT

- Ukrainian farmers have harvested 60.3 MMT of grain from 99% of the sown area (14.5 mln ha of 14.6 mln ha planed) as of December 4 vs. 63.6 MMT a year ago. The yield averaged 4.15 mt/ha compared with 4.36 mt/ha in 2014. Ukraine threshed 22.4 MMT of corn from 97% (4 mln ha) of the sowing area with yields of 5.62 mt/ha vs. 27.1 MMT with yields of 5.98 mt/ha a year ago

- Statistics Canada raised its estimate of Canada's 2015 corn crop from 12.2 to 13.56 MMT, well above average market expectation and up 18% over 2014 level (11.49 MMT)

- Statistics Canada raised its estimate of Canada's 2015 barley crop from 7.61 to 8.226 MMT, above average market expectation of 7.6 MMT and last year's 7.119 MMT

- Statistics Canada increased its estimate of Canada's 2015 oats crop from 3.292 to 3.428 MMT, as expected and well above last year's 2.979 MMT

- French Ag Min puts first estimate of new crop winter barley area at 1.32 mln ha, up 1.5% from last year and up 15.5% from five-year average

SOYBEAN

- Dec 4 - USDA announced export sales of 427,000 MT of US soybeans for delivery during 2015/16 to China (178 TMT) and unknown destinations (249 TMT)

- Oil World says Brazilian soybean crop may fall to or below 95 MMT in early 2016 vs. 96.2 MMT in 2014/15

- Safras & Mercado slightly trimmed 2015/16 Brazil soy forecast to 100.4 MMT from 100.5 MMT previously

- Celeres raised its 2015/16 Brazil soybean crop estimate to 101.9 MMT from 97.1 MMT previously

- Oil World said Sept-Nov 2015 combined soybean crushings and net exports of the USA and 4 South American countries increased sharply by 8.7 MMT from a year ago

- Oil World forecasts Brazilian biodiesel production at 3.48 MMT in 2015 (Jan-Dec) vs. 3 MMT in 2014

- Oil World forecasts Argentine biodiesel production at 1.87 MMT in 2015 vs. 2.58 MMT in 2014

- Statistics Canada raised its Canada's 2015 soybean production estimate from 5.928 to 6.235 MMT, now up 3.1% over 2014 level (6.049 MMT)

- Statistics Canada raised its Canada's 2015 canola crop estimate from 14.297 to 17.231 MMT, well above average market expectation of 15.6 MMT and now up 5% from 2014 (16.41 MMT)

- French Ag Min puts first estimate of new crop winter rapeseed area at 1.46 mln ha, down 1.7% from last year and down 3.9% from five-year average

- India's oilmeal exports in November rose to 112,081 MT from revised 34,168 MT in October, but down 41% from a year earlier (189,032 MT in Nov 2014)
