WHEAT

- Forecasts calling for precipitation in parched wheat belts in Russia and Ukraine, along with mild temperatures that could help plant development before winter, offset concerns about next year's harvest in the Black Sea region

- Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Russia's grain exports will climb to 35-40 MMT by 2020

- Russian grain stocks were at 43.7 MMT as of November 1, up 1.4% from a year earlier (43.1 MMT as of Nov 1, 2014). The data does not include grain stored at small farms

- Nov 17 - Russia bought 114,615 MT of intervention grain (108,405 MT of wheat, 3,375 MT of rye and 2,835 MT of barley) via tender on the NTB (Moscow Exchange). Making the total bought since Aug 20 at 634,365 MT of Russian grain (609,660 MT of wheat, 10,800 MT of rye and 13,905 MT of barley)

- Russian farmers have harvested 107.8 MMT of grain (incl. 63.9 MMT of wheat, 18.3 MMT of barley and 12.2 MMT of corn) as of Nov 17, down from 109.6 MMT (incl. 62.2 MMT of wheat, 21.2 MMT of barley and 10.7 MMT of corn) a year ago. Yields were at 2.46 mt/ha, down from 2.5 mt/ha a year ago. While 95.1% (or 16.3 mln ha) of winter crops were planted as of Nov 17 vs. 16.7 mln ha year ago

- Ukrainian farmers have planted winter wheat on 5.6 mln ha (90% of plan) as of Nov 17 vs. 6.4 mln ha a year ago

- AHDB said Britain's wheat area for the 2016 harvest is likely to be similar to the prior season (1.83 million hectares)

- Vietnam exported 859,132 MT of rice in October up 82.9% from September. Vietnam exported 5.36 MMT of rice between Jan-October down 3.9% from a year ago

CORN

- CNGOIC expects China's corn surplus this season at 52 MMT down from 55 MMT last month with corn imports for the season projected at 3.5 MMT, sorghum at 7 MMT and barley at 6.5 MMT

- Safras & Mercado estimated Brazilian summer corn planting 75% done compared to 92% average

- Dr. Michael Cordonnier left his Brazilian and Argentine 2015/16 corn crop estimates unchanged at 81.2 MMT (85.4 MMT in 2014/15) and 21.6 MMT (25.5 MMT in 2014/15), respectively

- Dr. Michael Cordonnier left his estimate of South America's 2015/16 corn crop at 107.1 MMT unchanged from previous estimate and vs. 115.1 MMT in 2014/15

- Ukrainian farmers have harvested 20.7 MMT of corn from 3.7 mln ha (91%) with yields of 5.53 mt/ha as of Nov 17 vs. 24.9 MMT with yields of 5.87 mt/ha a year ago
