WHEAT

- Nov 13 - South Korea's Daehan Flour Mill Co Ltd bought 24,900 MT of Canadian origin wheat (#2 or better western red spring) from Mitsui for February shipment

- Nov 12 - Algeria's OAIC bought around 550,000 MT of optional-origin milling wheat at an average of 205 $/mt c&f (ranging from $204.00 to $205.50) for January shipment

- India has raised the price that the government will pay to buy new-season wheat from local farmers to 1,525 rupees per 100 kg, up from 1,450 rupees in 2015

- Weekly US wheat export sales data for week ended November 5 – 236,700 MT, incl. 226,700 MT for 2015/16, within a range of trade estimates for 150,000 to 350,000 MT. Total current marketing-year US wheat export sales are 17% behind the same point last year

- Informa Economics estimated US winter wheat plantings for harvest in 2016 at 38.7 million acres, which would be down from 39.5 million for 2015 and the smallest since 2010

- FranceAgriMer estimated soft wheat planting 95% done as of Nov 9, ahead of last year's pace of 92%; durum planting 85% done vs. 77% a year ago. About 97% of France's soft wheat crops were in good to excellent condition as of Nov 9, unchanged from a week ago and vs. 95% a year ago

- French grain silo operator Nord Cereals at Dunkirk port refuses to accept milling wheat deliveries due to tight storage and slow export demand. This follows similar news from Senalia. Both have said they will lift the suspension once exports improve

- Russia's Ag Min said Russia exported about 14.706 MMT of grain between July 1-Nov 11, 2015, down by 9.5% from 16.242 MMT a year ago, including:

  • wheat – 11.234 MMT (vs. 13.233 MMT last year)
  • barley – 2.384 MMT (vs. 2.211 MMT)
  • corn – 965 TMT (vs. 658 TMT)
  • other grains – 123 TMT (vs. 140 TMT)

- Russia has 1,854.7 TMT of grain in its federal intervention fund as of November 12

- Iraq's acting trade minister replaced nine officials at the country's grain board in reform push. The move comes two weeks after the minister sacked the head of the grain board and several other officials over graft allegations

- Morocco Ag Min said 2015/16 final cereal production was 11.5 MMT up 69% from 2014/15

- USDA attaché in Morocco estimated 2015/16 wheat imports at 2.8 MMT vs. 4.07 MMT in 2014/15

CORN

- Nov 13 - USDA announced export sales of 116,000 MT of US sorghum for delivery to unknown destinations during 2015/16

- South Korea's KFA bought 60,000 MT of South American origin corn from Cargill at 192.8 $/mt c&f with a 1.5 $/mt surcharge for additional port unloading for April shipment

- US sorghum use on rise in food, ethanol as prices fall

- Weekly US corn export sales data for week ended Nov 5 - 640,600 MT, incl. 618,600 MT for 2015/16, within analyst expectations of 450-650 TMT. Total current marketing-year US corn export sales are 30% behind the same point last year

- Informa Economics trimmed its forecast for 2016 US corn plantings to 90.1 million acres from previous estimate of 90.8 mln acres, but it is still 1.7 mln acres above 2015 plantings

- FranceAgriMer said 56% of France's corn crops were in good to excellent condition as of Nov 9, unchanged from the prior week, but still well below vs. 89% a year ago. Harvesting of French corn crop was 92% completed as of Nov 9, well ahead of last year's pace of 88%

- FranceAgriMer estimated winter barley planting 99% done as of Nov 9, ahead of last year's pace of 98%. About 96% of France's winter barley crops were in good to excellent condition as of Nov 9 vs. 94% a year ago

SOYBEAN

- Weekly US soybean export sales data for week ended Nov 5 – 1,319,800 MT, incl. 1,297,000 MT for 2015/16, topping the high end of market estimates that ranged from 600,000 MT to 1 MMT. Total current marketing-year US soybean export sales are 20% behind the same point last year

- Informa Economics raised its forecast for 2016 US soybean plantings to a record 85.3 million acres from previous estimate of 83.9 mln acres

- AgRural reports Brazil soybean planting advanced to 60% of the planned area from 47% previous week, but behind the five-year average of 71%

- Surveyor Intertek Testing Services estimated Malaysia's Nov 1-15 palm oil exports at 724,992 MT up 3.9% from a month ago

- Surveyor SGS estimated Malaysia's Nov 1-15 palm oil exports at 703,768 MT up 1.8% from a month ago
