WHEAT

- Oct 28 - Jordan again tenders to buy 100,000 MT of hard wheat

- Iraq has extended until the middle of this week the period of validity of offers in a tender to buy at least 50,000 MT of hard wheat. The tender had initially called for offers to be submitted by Oct 18 and to be valid until Oct 22. The cheapest offer in the tender was for Russian wheat at 254 $/mt c&f free out

- Iran plans export wheat:

  • The State Trading Corporation of Iran (STC) plans to put out 400,000 MT of durum wheat for exports
  • The government bought 8.08 MMT of wheat from Iranian farmers this year, about 1.4 MMT more than last year, which is enough to meet local demand amid sufficient stocks from previous years

- Russia's Ag Min said Russia exported about 12.319 MMT of grain between July 1-Oct 21, 2015, down by 12.2% from 14.028 MMT a year ago, including wheat – 9.514 MMT (vs. 11.624 MMT last year), barley – 2.01 MMT, corn – 695 TMT, other grains – 100 TMT

- Russia has 1.858 MMT of grain in its federal intervention fund as of October 22

- Russian farmers have harvested 104.9 MMT of grain (incl. 63.8 MMT of wheat, 18.2 MMT of barley and 9.7 MMT of corn) as of Oct 23, down from 106.5 MMT (incl. 61 MMT of wheat, 20.9 MMT of barley and 8.9 MMT of corn) a year ago. Yields were at 2.42 mt/ha, down from 2.5 mt/ha a year ago. While 91.1% (or 15.6 mln ha) of winter crops were planted as of Oct 23 vs. 16.2 mln ha year ago

- Ukrainian farmers have planted winter wheat on 5.2 mln ha (84% of plan) as of Oct 23 vs. 6 mln ha a year ago

- Kazakhstan's Ag Min said Kazakhstan harvested 19.872 MMT (from 99.9% area) as of Oct 26, up from 15.984 MMT a year ago. Yields were at 1.35 mt/ha, up from 1.24 mt/ha a year ago

- Thailand's government approved the sale of 2 MMT of rotten rice for industrial use from its huge stockpiles

- Freepoint Commodities may hire agricultural traders over the next few months and form a new ag group

- Oman's biggest sovereign wealth fund has agreed with Japanese institutions to set up a joint $400 million fund that will invest in food and agribusiness industries

- China announced it is cutting interest rates 25 basis points and bank reserve requirement ratios by 50 basis points effective Oct 24 in an effort to boost the economy

CORN

- Oct 23 - USDA announced export sales of 130,000 MT of US corn for delivery to unknown destinations during 2015/16

- Ukrainian farmers have harvested 14.4 MMT of corn from 2.8 mln ha (67%) with yields of 5.15 mt/ha as of Oct 23 vs. 16.4 MMT with yields of 53.7 mt/ha a year ago

- USDA approved Monsanto's new genetically modified type of corn, MON 87411, after a review concluded it posed no significant threat to agricultural crops, other plants or the environment

SOYBEANS

- Oct 23 - USDA announced export sales of 208,000 MT of US soybeans for delivery to unknown destinations during 2015/16 and changes in destination of 236,000 MT of US soybeans from unknown destinations to China for delivery during the 2015/2016

- Argentina's September soybean crush are estimated at 3.815 MMT, up 0.5 MMT from Sept 2014, with March-Sep cumulative crush now up 7% from a year ago

- Surveyor Intertek Testing Services estimated Malaysia's October 1-25 palm oil exports at 1,200,017 MT down 9.2% from a month ago

- Surveyor SGS estimated Malaysia's October 1-25 palm oil exports at 1,226,244 MT down 8.4% from a month ago

- Ukrainian farmers have harvested 10.3 MMT of sunflower seed from 4.8 mln ha (97%) with yields of 2.12 mt/ha as of Oct 23 vs. 9.3 MMT, 4.9 mln ha and 1.89 mt/ha a year ago

- Ukrainian farmers have harvested 3.2 MMT of soybeans from 1.9 mln ha (88%) with yields of 1.7 mt/ha as of Oct 23 vs. 3.3 MMT, 1.6 mln ha and 2.06 mt/ha a year ago
