WHEAT

- Oct 22 - South Korea's CJ Cheiljedang Corp seeks 50,000 MT of wheat from Australia (44,100 MT of Australian standard white, 10.3-11.0% protein, and 5,900 MT of Australian hard, min. 11.5% protein) for May shipment

- Oct 22 - Japan bought 134,352 MT of food wheat for Nov-Jan shipment:

  • 31,800 MT of western white US wheat
  • 31,180 MT of hard red winter US wheat
  • 36,460 MT of dark northern spring US wheat
  • 34,912 MT of Canadian western red spring wheat

- Oct 21 - Tunisia bought 167,000 MT of optional origin durum wheat at 325.99 $/mt c&f for Dec-April shipment

- Kazakhstan's Ag Min said Kazakhstan exported 1.882 MMT of grain between July 1-October 20, 2015 vs. 1.924 MMT a year ago, incl. flour – 714,900 MT in wheat equivalent vs. 805,600 MT in the same period of 2014/15

- Kazakhstan's Ag Min said Kazakhstan harvested 19.829 MMT (from 99.9% area) as of Oct 22, up from 15.828 MMT a year ago. Yields were at 1.35 mt/ha, up from 1.23 mt/ha a year ago

- China's September wheat imports up 54.59% on year to 206,559 MT

- China's Jan-Sep wheat imports down 20.92% on year to 2.246 MMT

CORN

- Egypt seeks corn for February

- China could buy about 50% less corn for state stockpiles in the 2015/16 season than the previous year (40-50 MMT vs. 83 MMT in 2014/15) as local governments offer subsidies to encourage processors to use more domestic grain

- CNGOIC expects China's 2015/16 corn crop at a record 228 MMT, 6% more than last year

- China imported just 169,711 MT of corn last month, which was a 729% increase from last year but down 72% from previous month, as buyers have used up their import quotas for this year. Corn purchases through September this year stand at nearly 4.534 MMT, a 180% increase from a year ago

- China's imports of dried distillers' grains (DDGs) totaled 933,537 MT in September, the third largest monthly import total ever, up 18% from the previous month and 73.3% higher than year-ago

- China's September sorghum imports rose 95% on month to 1.07 MMT

- China's September barley imports rose 71.08% on year to a record 1.295 MMT

- China's Jan-Sep barley imports rose 104.02% on year to 8.721 MMT

- US Ethanol production for the week ended Oct 16 increased by 2,000 barrels to 951,000 barrels per day, it is up 6.1% from last year's level (896,000 bpd). Stocks fell by 84,000 barrels to 18.872 million barrels, but up 5.2% vs. 17.94 million barrels a year ago

- India has contracted to import 2.5 MMT of pulses for shipment in October to January, but the bulk of the purchases could be cancelled if the Maharashtra government continues a stock limit policy introduced earlier this week

- India Pulses and Grain Association said India's pulses imports in the 2015/16 financial year through March 2016 could rise 22% from a year ago to 5.5 MMT

SOYBEANS

- Venezuela seeks soymeal for January

- Oct 21 - USDA announced export sales of 40,000 MT of US soybean oil for delivery during 2015/16 to China (20 TMT) and unknown destinations (20 TMT)

- Agroconsult forecasts Brazil's 2015/16 soy crop at a record 100.6 MMT, up from the 96.2 MMT harvested in early 2015; forecasts Brazil's 2016 soybean exports at 54.0 MMT

- China imported over 7,255 MMT of soybeans during September, a 44.27% increase from year-ago. Brazil and Argentina got 93.03% of this business. For the first nine months of the year China has purchased around 59.649 MMT of soybeans, a 13.09% increase from the year-prior. Cumulative Jan-Sept imports from the US are down 2% vs last year at 17.0 MMT, with Brazil up 15% to 33.0 MMT and Argentina up 50% to 6.9 MMT

- China's September rapeseed imports down 40.27% on year to 295,496 MT

- China's Jan-Sep rapeseed imports down 12.53% on year to 3.417 MMT

- China's September soy oil imports down 18.2% on year to 144,014 MT
