WHEAT

- Syria has extended the deadline in its tender for 200,000 MT of optional origin soft wheat for bread making from Oct 19 until Oct 26

- Oct 16 - South Korea flour mills bought 172,300 MT of wheat from the US (91.3 TMT) and Australia (81 TMT):

  • S.Korea's CJ bought 61,000 MT of US wheat for February shipment:
    • 29,800 MT of western/soft white wheat at around 249 $/mt
    • 3,500 MT of western/soft white wheat at around 320 $/mt
    • 11,200 MT of hard red winter wheat at around 225 $/mt
    • 16,500 MT of northern spring wheat at around 239 $/mt
  • S.Korea's Daehan bought 50,000 MT of wheat from Australia for April shipment:
    • 43,500 MT of Australian standard white wheat from Mitsui

  • S.Korea's KFMC bought 61,300 MT wheat:
    • 30,300 MT of US wheat for Feb-March shipment:

    • 31,000 MT of Australian wheat for April-May shipment:
      • 26,300 MT of Australian standard white wheat from Cargill
      • 4,700 MT of Australian hard wheat from Cargill

- Weekly US wheat export sales data for week ended October 8 – 460,400 MT for 2015/16, just above the market expectations (250-450 TMT)

- Informa Economics lowered its projected US 2016 all wheat planted acreage figure to 54 million acres, down from 54.7 million acres estimated last month and vs. 54.6 million acres in 2015

- Russia's Ag Min said Russia exported about 11.753 MMT of grain between July 1-Oct 14, 2015, down by 16.2% from 14.028 MMT a year ago, including wheat – 9.117 MMT, barley – 1.936 MMT, corn – 617 TMT, other grains – 83 TMT

- Russian grain stocks were at 43.8 MMT as of October 1, down 0.9% from a year earlier. The data does not include grain stored at small farms

- Russia has 1.859 MMT of grain in its federal intervention fund as of October 16

- Russian farmers have harvested 103.1 MMT of grain (incl. 63.6 MMT of wheat, 18.1 MMT of barley and 8.3 MMT of corn) as of Oct 16, down from 104.5 MMT (incl. 60.5 MMT of wheat, 20.9 MMT of barley and 7.8 MMT of corn) a year ago. Yields were at 2.41 mt/ha, down from 2.5 mt/ha a year ago. While 88.1% (or 15.1 mln ha) of winter crops were planted as of Oct 16 vs. 15.9 mln ha year ago

- Ukrainian farmers have planted winter wheat on 5 mln ha (81% of plan) as of Oct 16 vs. 5.8 mln ha a year ago

- Kazakhstan's Ag Min said Kazakhstan harvested 19.643 MMT (from 99.8% area) as of Oct 19, up from 15.685 MMT a year ago. Yields were at 1.33 mt/ha, up from 1.23 mt/ha a year ago

CORN

- Weekly US corn export sales data for week ended Oct 8 – 658,400 MT, incl. 598,400 MT for 2015/16, in line with analyst expectations of 450-650 TMT

- Informa Economics raised its projected US 2016 corn planted acreage figure to 90.8 million acres, up from its September estimate of 90.7 million acres and up vs. 88.4 million acres in 2015

- Ukrainian farmers have harvested 11.8 MMT of corn from 2.3 mln ha (56%) with yields of 5.1 mt/ha as of Oct 16

SOYBEANS

- Oct 16 - USDA announced export sales of 270,000 MT of US soybeans for delivery to unknown destinations during 2015/16

- Philippines, Morocco, Cuba, Ecuador and Colombia are seeking soymeal

- Weekly US soybean export sales data for week ended Oct 8 – 1,476.8 TMT for 2015/16, near the high end of market forecasts (1-1.5 MMT)

- Informa Economics lowered its projected US 2016 soybean planted acreage figure to 83.9 million acres, down from 84.2 million acres estimated last month but above vs. 83.2 million acres in 2015

- AgRural said Brazil's 2015/16 soybean crop is 13% planted, above the 10% at this time last year but behind the 18% historical average

- Ukrainian farmers have harvested 10.0 MMT of sunflower seed from 4.7 mln ha (95%) with yields of 2.12 mt/ha as of Oct 16

- Ukrainian farmers have harvested 3.0 MMT of soybeans from 1.7 mln ha (81%) with yields of 1.71 mt/ha as of Oct 16

- Russian farmers have harvested 1.7 MMT of soybeans from 1.1 mln ha (57.1%) with yields of 1.51 mt/ha as of Oct 16 vs. 1.7 MMT, 1.3 mln ha and 1.36 mt/ha a year ago
