WHEAT

- Oct 15 - Egypt's GASC seeks wheat for Nov 21-30 shipment

- Oct 15 - Japan bought 116,782 MT of food wheat for Nov-Jan shipment:

  • 12,965 MT of western white US wheat
  • 11,770 MT of hard red winter US wheat
  • 39,337 MT of dark northern spring US wheat
  • 30,960 MT of Canadian western red spring wheat
  • 21,750 MT of Australian standard white wheat

- Oct 8 - Morocco (ONICL) bought 108,500 MT of soft wheat in the local market for produce subsidised flour

- India is considering raising import tax on wheat to 25% from 10% currently, to curb cheaper imports from Australia and France

- Kazakhstan's Ag Min said Kazakhstan exported 1.618 MMT of grain between July 1-October 10, 2015 vs. 1.647 MMT a year ago, incl. flour – 632,400 MT in wheat equivalent vs. 703,900 MT in the same period of 2014/15

- Kazakhstan's Ag Min said Kazakhstan harvested 19.303 MMT (from 98.9% area) as of Oct 15, up from 15.462 MMT a year ago. Yields were at 1.32 mt/ha, up from 1.23 mt/ha a year ago

- Russian farmers have harvested 102.4 MMT of grain (incl. 63.5 MMT of wheat, 18.1 MMT of barley and 7.9 MMT of corn) as of Oct 14, down from 104.1 MMT (incl. 60.4 MMT of wheat, 20.8 MMT of barley and 7.6 MMT of corn) a year ago. Yields were at 2.4 mt/ha, down from 2.5 mt/ha a year ago. While 87.5% (or 15 mln ha) of winter crops were planted as of Oct 14 vs. 15.5 mln ha year ago

- Czech stats office raised its estimate of country's 2015 grain crop (except for grain maize) to 7.85 MMT from previous estimate of 7.7 MMT, but down 1.1% from last year (7.93 MMT in 2014). Wheat crop is estimated at 5.33 MMT (5.22 - previous and 5.44 in 2014) and barley – at 2.03 MMT (2.00 and 1.97)

- Asia is losing some of its appetite for rice in favor of wheat, a trend that is nowhere more pronounced than South Korea where bread and pastries have become a new staple. South Korea's rice consumption hit a record low of 65.1 kg per person last year, while flour consumption was the highest since 2006 at 33.6 kg

CORN

- South Korea is buying corn for Feb-Apr shipment

- Oct 14 - Jordan cancelled a tender for 100,000 MT of barley for March shipment as no offers were made

- Asian feed millers are expected to import Ukrainian corn if heavy rains in key supplier Brazil further delay shipments from the country's busiest Paranagua port

- Czech stats office in its first estimate of country's 2015 grain maize (corn) crop expects a 33.3% drop to 555,238 MT from 832,235 MT in 2014

- Vilmorin & Cie SA concludes together with KWS additional corn traits licensing agreements with Syngenta, complementing and strengthening their technology platforms

- Back-to-back drought years for the first time in three decades has eroded India's output of pulses and boosted imports. Global prices of chickpeas, yellow peas and lentils have as a result hit record highs in what is a windfall for farmers in Canada, Australia, Russia, Myanmar and the US

SOYBEANS

- Oct 14 - USDA announced export sales of 235,000 MT of US soybeans for delivery to China during 2015/16

- India imported 1.217 MMT of veg oils (edible & non-edible) in September vs. 1.374 MMT in August and vs. 1.048 MMT a year ago.

- India imported 12.771 MMT of edible veg oils in Nov 2014-Sept 2015 vs. 10.388 MMT in the same period of 2013/14

- India imported 596,093 MT of crude palm oil in September vs. 645,653 MT in August and vs. 601,676 MT a year ago

- India imported 173,410 MT of RBD palmolein in September vs. 157,942 MT in August and vs. 82,803 MT a year ago

- India imported 321,062 MT of soybean oil in September vs. 406,116 MT in August and vs. 161,016 MT a year ago

- India imported 68,216 MT of sunflower oil in September vs. 102,568 MT in August and vs. 132,491 MT a year ago

- India imported 32,495 MT of rapeseed oil in September vs. 45,294 MT in August and 26,789 MT a year ago

- India's current stock of edible oils as of October 1, 2015 at various ports is estimated at 780,000 MT (CPO 350,000 MT, RBD Palmolein 85,000 MT, Degummed Soybean Oil 200,000 MT, Crude Sunflower Oil 85,000 MT and 60,000 MT of Rapeseed (Canola) Oil) and about 1,460,000 MT in pipelines. Total stock at ports and in pipelines decreased to 2.24 MMT from 2.325 MMT a month ago, but it is well above last year's 1.715 MMT. India's monthly requirement is about 1.6 MMT

- Russian farmers have harvested 1.6 MMT of soybeans from 1.1 mln ha (53%) with yields of 1.53 mt/ha as of Oct 14 vs. 1.6 MMT, 1.2 mln ha and 1.35 mt/ha a year ago

- Russian farmers have harvested 7.9 MMT of sunflower seed from 5.1 mln ha (75.1%) with yields of 1.55 mt/ha as of Oct 14 vs. 7.2 MMT, 4.9 mln ha and 1.47 mt/ha a year ago

- Russian farmers have harvested 1.0 MMT of rapeseed from 801,900 ha (79.2%) with yields of 1.29 mt/ha as of Oct 14, down vs. 1.4 MMT, 953,900 ha and 1.46 mt/ha a year ago

- Surveyor Intertek Testing Services estimated Malaysia's Oct 1-15 palm oil exports at 698,104 MT down 8.78% from a month ago
