- Sep 25 - South Korea's Korea Flour Mills (KFMC) is seeking a total of 24,900 MT of US wheat for Dec-Jan shipment:

  • 11,400 MT of western/soft white (max. 10.5% protein)
  • 1,900 MT of western/soft white (max. 8.5% protein)
  • 6,300 MT of hard red winter (min. 11.5% protein)
  • 5,300 MT of dark/northern spring (min. 14% protein)

- Weekly US wheat export sales data for week ended September 17 – 313,700 MT, incl. 282,800 MT for 2015/16, at the lower side of market expectations (250,000-400,000 MT)

- EU in week ended September 22 granted licenses to export 502 TMT of soft wheat, bringing the total this season to 4.718 MMT vs. 5.814 MMT a year ago

- Russia's government has proposed cutting its floating wheat export tax as of Oct 1 with no duty for hard wheat. It proposed changing the formula for the tax to 50% of the customs price minus 6,500 rubles/mt, but not less than 10 rubles/mt instead of current tariff formula: 50% of the customs price minus 5,500 rubles/mt, but not less than 50 rubles/mt

Russia's Ag Min estimated 2015 grain crop at 100-101 MMT vs. previous forecast of 100-103 MMT, and 2015/16 grain exports at 30 MMT vs. previous forecast of 25-30 MMT

- Russian farmers have harvested 90.6 MMT of grain (incl. 59.0 MMT of wheat, 17.0 MMT of barley and 3.4 MMT of corn) as of September 24, down from 92.4 MMT (incl. 55.5 MMT of wheat, 19.9 MMT of barley and 3.9 MMT of corn) a year ago. Yields were at 2.44 mt/ha, down from 2.59 mt/ha a year ago. While 59.9% (or 10.2 mln ha) of winter crops were planted as of September 24

- International Grains Council (IGC) raised its global wheat output projection for 2015/16 by 7 MMT to a record 727 MMT, now up from the previous season (720 MMT), on improved prospects in EU (to 155.5 from 151.9 MMT), China (to 129 from 127.5 MMT), Russia (to 60 from 59 MMT) and Ukraine (to 25.5 from 25 MMT). Wheat ending stocks were revised upwards 4.5 MMT to a record 210.7 MMT (202.2 MMT in 2014/15)

- Wheat industry group Abitrigo expects decline of Brazil's wheat imports to around 5 MMT this year, compared to 5.78 MMT in 2014, reflecting smaller local consumption and larger Brazilian production. Brazil's Jan-Aug wheat imports are estimated at 3.3 MMT, down 20% on year

- Kazakhstan's Ag Min said Kazakhstan harvested 11.734 MMT as of September 25, up from 10.418 MMT a year ago. Yields were at 1.18 mt/ha, up from 1.1 mt/ha a year ago

- Indonesia to import 1.5 MMT of rice from Thailand, Vietnam
