WHEAT

- Sep 18 - Egypt's GASC bought 230,000 MT of Russian, French and Ukrainian wheat for October 21-31 delivery:

  • 55 TMT of Ukrainian wheat from Venus at 188.4 $/mt c&f (174.95 $/mt fob+ 13.45 $/mt freight from Venus)
  • 55 TMT of Russian wheat from Glencore at 192.5 $/mt c&f (182.80 $/mt fob+ 9.70 $/mt freight from National Navigation (NNC))
  • 60 TMT of Russian wheat from Olam at 192.5 $/mt c&f (183.95 $/mt fob+ 8.55 $/mt freight from NNC)
  • 60 TMT of French wheat from Soufflet at 193.37 $/mt c&f (177.74 $/mt fob+ 15.63 $/mt freight from NNC)

- Egypt's strategic wheat reserves are enough to last until early March

- Sep 18 - South Korea's Daehan Flour Mill Co Ltd bought 51,000 MT of Australian wheat at around 216 $/mt fob for Feb-March shipment

- Sep 18 - South Korea KFA bought 25,000 MT of optional origin feed wheat at 199.95 $/mt c&f for Feb shipment

- Dryness in Russia and Ukraine may curb plantings and germination of the winter wheat crop for the 2016 harvest

- Russia's Ag Min said Russia exported about 7.659 MMT of grain between July 1-September 18, 2015, down by 22.6% from 9.898 MMT a year ago, including wheat – 6.008 MMT, barley – 1.352 MMT, corn – 253 TMT, other grains – 46 TMT

- Russia has 1,884,500 MT of grain in its federal intervention fund as of September 18

- Russian Deputy Prime Minister said that total grain production in the upcoming years could be 120-130 MMT, such a level would likely mean the state would stop buying grain into intervention stocks. Russia's Ag Min estimated 2015/16 grain crop at 100-103 MMT

- Russian farmers have harvested 87.2 MMT of grain (incl. 57.5 MMT of wheat, 16.6 MMT of barley and 2.6 MMT of corn) as of September 18, down from 88.6 MMT (incl. 53.8 MMT of wheat, 19.6 MMT of barley and 2.8 MMT of corn) a year ago. Yields were at 2.46 mt/ha, down from 2.62 mt/ha a year ago. While 52.9 % of winter crops were planted as of September 18

- Kazakhstan's Ag Min said Kazakhstan harvested 10.246 MMT as of September 21, up from 8.503 MMT a year ago. Yields were at 1.15 mt/ha, up from 1.07 mt/ha a year ago

CORN

- Brazil has sold another cargo of corn to the US east coast for October 2016 shipment

- Taiwan signs letters of intent to buy $3.03 billion worth of US corn, wheat and soybeans through 2017. The delegation from Taiwan agreed to buy around 5 MMT of corn and 500,000 MT of corn co-products worth around $1.23 billion; 1.7 MMT of wheat valued at $544 million; specific numbers on soybeans were not available

- Japan's use of corn in feed rations climbed to 45.8% in July 2015, up 0.4 points from both June and year-ago. While usage of sorghum in feed rations declined to 3.1%, down 0.5 points from June and 0.6 points below year-ago. Wheat usage stood at 1.5% in July, steady from the prior month but down 0.5 points from July 2014

- Ukraine's Ag Min lowered its forecast of this year corn crop to 22-23 MMT from previous forecast of 24.5 MMT and vs. 2014 crop of 28.5 MMT. As of September 17 Ukraine have harvested 1.1 MMT of corn from 6% area with yields at 4.29 mt/ha vs. 2.1 MMT from 11% area with yields at 4.18 mt/ha a year ago

- Safras e Mercado forecasts Brazilian 2015/16 corn crop at 88.6 MMT vs. 86.2 MMT in 2014/15 and vs. USDA's forecast of 79.0 MMT

- Brazilian federal agricultural agents are going on strike to protest recent government budget cuts and to look for higher wages. These federal agents are critical to the movement of grain and play a big role in the approving of imports and exports throughout the country. The strike could affect Brazil's corn exports

SOY

- Sep 18 - USDA announced export sales of 25,000 MT of US soybean oil for delivery to Egypt during 2015/16

- China bought around 25-30 US and South American soybean cargoes last week

- Safras e Mercado raised its forecast of Brazilian 2015/16 soybean production to 100.5 MMT from their previous estimate of 99.8 MMT and vs. 95.5 MMT in 2014/15

- Ukraine's Ag Min forecasts 2015 sunflower crop at last year level (over 10 MMT). As of September 17 Ukraine have harvested 3.4 MMT of sunflower from 35% area with yields at 1.99 mt/ha vs. 5.2 MMT from 60% area with yields at 1.7 mt/ha a year ago

- Ukraine's Ag Min forecasts 2015 soybean crop at last year level (around 4 MMT). As of September 17 Ukraine have harvested 0.95 MMT of soy from 25% area with yields at 1.78 mt/ha vs. 0.984 MMT from 29% area with yields at 1.86 mt/ha a year ago

- Ukraine's Ag Min said that dry weather has curbed rapeseed planting in Ukraine, reducing the crop area to about 20-30% less than planned – to 685,000 hectares or less (823,000 was planned) vs. 865,000 hectares in 2014

- Surveyor Intertek Testing Services estimated Malaysia's September 1-20 palm oil exports at 1,067,503 MT up 7.6% from a month ago

- Surveyor SGS estimated Malaysia's September 1-20 palm oil exports at 1,122,321 MT up 13.3% from a month ago
