CORN

- South Korea seeks 165-210,000 MT of optional origin corn for Feb shipment

- Sep 2 - South Korea's Major Feedmill Group (MFG) purchased 204,000 MT of optional-origin corn (likely from the US Gulf or South America) for February arrival:

  • 69,000 MT of corn was purchased at 185.45 $/mt c&f+1.25 $/mt surcharge for additional port unloading for Feb 5 arrival;
  • 70,000 MT at 186.20 $/mt c&f+1.25 $/mt surcharge for additional port unloading for Feb 15;
  • 65,000 MT at 187.50 $/mt c&f+1.25 $/mt surcharge for additional port unloading for Feb 25

- US Ethanol production for the week ended August 28 fell by 4,000 barrels to 948,000 barrels per day, it is up 2.9% from last year's level (921,000 bpd). Stocks increased by 374,000 barrels to 19.002 million barrels and up vs. 17.673 million barrels a year ago

- INTL FCStone raised its forecast for the US 2015 corn harvest to 13.457 billion bushels (yield – 165.9 bpa) from 13.381 billion (165.0 bpa) in its previous monthly report

- Allendale forecasts US corn crop at 13.548 billion bushels with yield at 167.1 bpa

- Ukraine's Ag Min said Ukraine exported 5.8 MMT of grain between July 1-Aug 31, 2015 (vs. 4.8 MMT for the same period last year), including wheat – 2.64 MMT (1.87 MMT – milling wheat) (vs. 2.3 MMT a year ago), corn – 1.306 MMT (vs. 435 TMT), barley – 1.862 MMT (vs. 1.8 MMT) and other grains – 6 TMT. An additional 324 TMT of grain had been loaded on vessels and should leave Ukraine in the coming days

- Syngenta AG plans to sell its vegetable seeds business and buy back more than $2 billion worth of stock in a campaign to boost shareholder returns after it rejected a takeover offer from Monsanto Co

- Cargill to invest $100 million to double capacity at its soybean crush facility Borg El Arab in Egypt. The company will also construct an additional 42,000 MT of storage capacity within Cargill's existing premises at the port of Dekheila in Alexandria
