WHEAT

- Algerian milling wheat imports in first half of 2015 was at 2.741 MMT up 5.8% on year with durum imports at 1.04 MMT, down 6.8% on year

- Floods in several of Argentina's key wheat-growing areas threaten to damage recently planted crops and could reduce the 2015/16 harvest

- CONAB held its estimate of Brazilian 2015 wheat crop nearly unchanged at 7 MMT

- Russia's Ag Min has postponed the start of its grain interventions purchases until next week

- Russian farmers have harvested 54.0 MMT of grain (incl. 40.7 MMT of wheat and 9.1 MMT of barley) as of August 12, down from 60.2 MMT (incl. 43.4 MMT of wheat and 11.0 MMT of barley) a year ago. Yields were at 2.99 mt/ha, down from 3.21 mt/ha a year ago

- Ukraine's July 2015 wheat exports are estimated at 0.77 MMT above 0.36 MMT a month ago and 0.65 MMT a year ago

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 26.4 MMT (98% of area) of wheat as of August 12, up from 23.6 MMT a year ago. Yields were at 3.93 mt/ha vs. 3.99 mt/ha a year ago

- China plans to restore a value-added tax of 13% on fertilizer imports and sales, effective Sept. 1. This move is intended to curb widespread overuse

- Thai government has sold 426,977 MT of rice from state stocks to 47 local buyers. Some 668,000 MT of rice had been offered in the tender

CORN

- China will require importers of barley, sorghum, DDGS and cassava to register details of their purchases under a new system to come into effect from Sept 1

- CONAB raised its estimates of Brazilian 2014/15 corn crop to 84.3 MMT, up from their last estimate of 81.8 MMT and vs. 80.1 MMT in 2013/14. Currently, the second crop is estimated at a record 54 MMT. Exports are projected at 26.4 MMT of corn vs. 20.9 MMT in 2013/14

- Dr. Michael Cordonnier left his average corn yield projection at 164.5 bpa for a crop projection of 13.25 billion bushels in the US

- Algerian corn imports in first half of 2015 was at 1.78 MMT, up 19.7% from a year ago and barley imports at 412,000 MT, up 43%

- Ukraine's Ag Min forecasts corn crop at 26.5 MMT, saying that heat has not much hurt the crop

- Ukraine's Ag Min said that Ukraine has supplied about 800,000 MT of grain to China so far this year, and would be able to exports a total of 3 MMT, mostly corn

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 36.0 MMT of all grains as of August 12, up from 34.1 MMT a year ago. Yields were at 3.6 mt/ha vs. 3.62 mt/ha a year ago. Farmers harvested 8.5 MMT of barley (99% of area) vs. 9.2 MMT a year ago

SOY

- CONAB held its Brazilian 2014/15 soybean estimate nearly unchanged from previous estimate at 96.2 MMT and vs. 86.1 MMT in 2013/14. Exports are projected at 49.1 MMT of soybeans vs. 45.7 MMT in 2013/14

- Dr. Michael Cordonnier left his soybean yield projection for the US unchanged at 43.5 bpa and 3.58 billion bushels crop projection
