- China will offer 3.4 MMT of corn from state reserves this week, up nine-fold from the previous week, when was sold just 17,541 MT of the 367,300 MT offered due to high prices. China began selling corn from its state reserves in April, a month earlier than last year. Beijing has stockpiled a total of 82 MMT of corn during the 2014/15 scheme which ended on April 30, above the previous trade estimates

- USDA said the US corn crop 55% planted as of May 3, topping market expectations for 48-50% complete, vs. 19% a week ago and vs. 28% a year ago, and vs. a 5-year average of 38%
