- Dec 26 - Jordan seeks 120,000 MT of optional-origin hard milling wheat

- Dec 21 - Tunisia's state grains agency bought 50,000 MT of optional-origin durum wheat and 75,000 MT of soft wheat for Feb 01-Mar 10:

  • 25,000 MT of soft milling wheat from Cofco at 256.95 $/mt c&f;
  • 25,000 MT of soft milling wheat from Cofco at 257.45 $/mt c&f;
  • 25,000 MT of soft milling wheat from Dreyfus at 262.5 $/mt c&f;
  • 25,000 MT of durum wheat from Glencore at 290.27 $/mt c&f;
  • 25,000 MT of durum wheat from Markou at 290.95 $/mt c&f

- Dec 20 - Egypt's GASC bought 120,000 MT of wheat from Ukraine (60 TMT) and Romania (60 TMT) for February 11-20 shipments:

  • 60,000 MT of Ukrainian wheat from Louis Dreyfus at 263.7 $/mt c&f (246.4 fob+17.3 freight);
  • 60,000 MT of Romanian wheat from CHS at 264.1 $/mt c&f (248.75 fob+15.35 freight)

- Dec 20 - Japan bought 106,100 MT of food wheat for Jan-Feb shipments:

  • 26,330 MT of western white US wheat;
  • 10,520 MT of dark northern spring US wheat;
  • 34,190 MT of hard red winter US wheat;
  • 35,060 MT of Canadian western red spring wheat

- Weekly US wheat export sales data for week ended Dec 13 totaled 313,600 MT for 2018/19 (below trade expectations for 500-700 TMT). Export commitments for 2018/19 are running 12% behind of year-ago

- Russia’s Ag Min said Russia exported 26.8 MMT of grain between July 1-Dec 20, 2018/19, up 4.1% from 25.7 MMT a year ago, including:

  • wheat – 22.6 MMT (up 12.4% from year ago);
  • barley – 2.8 MMT (down by 14.2%);
  • corn – 1.1 MMT (twice down)

- Russia has 3,005,700 MT of grain in its federal intervention fund as of Dec 21 vs. 3,966,900 MT year ago

- Ukrainian grain stocks were at 34.068 MMT as of December 1, up 25.8% from a year earlier, incl. 8.739 MMT of wheat (9.717 MMT a year ago), 1.639 MMT of barley (1.742 MMT a year ago) and 22.655 MMT of corn (14.226 MMT a year ago). The data does not include grain stored at small farms

- South Africa's Crop Estimates Committee (CEC) lowered its wheat production estimate this year to 1.831 MMT from 1.862 MMT previously, up 19.3% from the previous season’s crop of 1.535 MMT

- SAGIS estimated S. Africa's November wheat imports at 79,517 MT vs. 60,821 MT in October. Oct-Nov 2018 imports fell 74.7% on year to 140,338 MT (555,719 MT in Oct-Nov 2017)

- Argentina's Ag Min lowered its forecast of 2018/19 wheat production by 0.3 MMT to 19.4 MMT, up 4.9% from 18.5 MMT in 2017/18. Wheat exports forecast for 2018/19 (Dec-Nov) was lowered by 0.5 MMT to 13 MMT vs. 11.83 MMT in previous season

- UK’s Ag Min trimmed its estimate of this year’s UK wheat crop to 13.953 MMT from 14.086 MMT previously, down 6% from the prior season’s 14.837 MMT

CORN

- Dec 21 - Tunisia's state grains agency bought 50,000 MT (2x25 TMT) of optional-origin feed barley from Glencore at 249.87 and 250.66 $/mt c&f for Feb 10-28 shipment

- Dec 21 - Taiwan's MFIG bought 65,000 MT of US or Brazil corn from Amaggi at a premium of 156.5 USc/bushel c&f over the Chicago May contract (212.6 USD/mt, c&f) for Mar 6-25 shipment

- Dec 21 - USDA announced export sales of 222,504 MT of US corn for delivery to unknown destinations during 2018/19

- Dec 20 - USDA announced export sales of 426,800 MT of US corn for delivery to Mexico during 2018/19 (373,455 MT) and 2019/20 (53,345 MT)

- Weekly US corn export sales data for week ended Dec 13 totaled 2,517,000 MT, incl. 1,974,400 MT for 2018/19 (within expectations for 1.8-2.3 MMT). Export commitments for 2018/19 are running 17% ahead of year-ago

- SAGIS estimated South Africa's corn stocks as of Nov 30 were at 7.003 MMT vs. 7.96 MMT a month ago and 8.212 MMT a year ago

- SAGIS estimated S. Africa's May-Nov 2018 corn exports at 1.756 MMT, up 0.9% on year (1.74 MMT in May-Nov 2017)

- Japan's use of corn in animal feed totalled 47.8% in October 2018, unchanged from prior month and by 0.7% points above year-ago level (47.1% in Oct 2017). Its use of barley fell to 3.4% down from 3.5% in Sept and vs. 3.5% a year ago; while wheat usage rose by 0.1% point from prior month to 1.8% (1.9% year-ago). Sorghum usage in feed rations fell by 0.2% point to 2.2% in Oct, but in line with a year ago

- Dec 21 - China's commerce ministry launched an anti-subsidy probe into Australian barley imports, ramping up pressure on suppliers and increasing uncertainty in the market after an anti-dumping probe announced last month

- Argentina's Ag Min forecast 2018/19 barley production at 4.6 MMT, up 23% from 3.74 MMT in 2017/18. Barley exports forecast for 2018/19 (Dec-Nov) was upped by 50,000 MT to 2.7 MMT vs. 2.47 MMT in previous season

- UK’s Ag Min slightly upped its estimate of 2018 UK barley crop to 6.621 MMT from 6.606 MMT previously, down 7.6% from the prior season’s 7.169 MMT

SOYBEAN

- China plans to make a third round of US soybean purchases within days

- China has approved soybean imports from Bolivia

- Dec 21 - USDA announced export sales of 115,500 MT of US soybeans for delivery to unknown destinations during 2018/19

- Dec 20 - USDA announced export sales of 461,000 MT of US soybeans for delivery during 2018/19 to China (204 TMT) and to unknown destinations (257 TMT)

- Dec 20 - USDA announced export sales of 100,000 MT of US soybean meal for delivery to Colombia during 2018/19

- Weekly US soybeans export sales data for week ended Dec 13 totaled 2,963,400 MT, incl. 2,835,600 MT for 2018/19 (above trade expectations for 2-2.5 MMT). Export commitments for 2018/19 are running 30% behind of year-ago

- Weekly US soymeal export sales data for week ended Dec 13 of 300,000 MT for 2018/19, within trade expectations of 100-400 TMT. Export commitments for 2018/19 are running 11% ahead of year-ago

- Argentina's Ag Min expects the country to plant 17.5 million hectares of soybean for the 2018/19, up 1.7% from 17.2 mln ha in 2017/18. Forecast of soybean exports in 2017/18 (Apr 2018-Mar 2019) was upped by 0.3 MMT to 4.3 MMT (7.23 MMT in 2016/17)

- Stocks of soymeal at Argentine mills totals 1.344 MMT at the end of November 2018, up 13.6% over a year-ago

- Stocks of soybean oil at Argentine mills totals 344,659 MT at the end of November 2018, up by 26% from a year-ago

- Stocks of sunoil at Argentine mills totals 82,621 MT at the end of November 2018, up by 52% from a year-ago

- Stocks of sunflower meal at Argentine mills totals 80,498 MT at the end of November 2018, almost tripled from a year-ago

- Ukrainian November sunflower oil production was reported at 517 TMT, down 3% from prior month but up 8.1% from last year. Jan-Nov 2018 sunoil production totalled 4.274 MMT, down 9.5% from the same period in 2017

- Ukrainian sunflower stocks were at 7.778 MMT as of December 1, up 15.4% from a year earlier (6.737 MMT). The data does not include grain stored at small farms

- Surveyor Intertek Testing Services estimated Malaysia's December 1-20 palm oil exports at 808,061 MT up 2.9% from a month ago

- Surveyor AmSpec Agri Malaysia estimated Malaysia's December 1-20 palm oil exports at 846,725 MT up 6.7% from a month ago

- Surveyor SGS estimated Malaysia's December 1-20 palm oil exports at 879,491 MT up 6.9% from a month ago

- UK’s Ag Min lifted its estimate of 2018 UK rapeseed crop to 2.074 MMT from 2.051 MMT previously, down 4.3% from the prior season’s 2.167 MMT
