- Dec 5 - China sold 261,954 MT of wheat from state reserves or 8.7% of the offered amount at auction at average price of 2,395 RMB/mt (349 $/mt)

- Dec 5 - Japan bought 19,320 MT of feed grain (19,120 MT of wheat and 200 MT of barley) for Mar 7 arrival via SBS-tender. New SBS tender for 120,000 MT of feed wheat and 200,000 MT of feed barley will be held on December 12

- Dec 4 - Jordan bought 60,000 MT of optional-origin hard milling wheat from Ameropa at 267.4 $/mt c&f for first half of March shipment

- Egypt’s GASC has not issued letters of credit covering 16 recently purchased wheat cargoes

- Ukraine's Ag Min said Ukraine exported about 19.05 MMT of grain between July 1-Dec 5, 2018/19 vs. around 17.45 MMT for the same period of last season, including 9.46 MMT of wheat (10.1 MMT a year ago), 6.2 MMT of corn (3.5 MMT) and 3.1 MMT of barley (3.8 MMT)

- European Commission (EC) raised its forecast of 2018 EU soft wheat crop by 1.78 MMT to 129.18 MMT vs. 142.03 MMT last year. EU's executive kept its forecast of 2018/19 EU soft wheat exports at 20 MMT (21.31 MMT in 2017/18). Soft wheat inventories in the region are forecasted at 11.935 MMT by the end of June 2019 vs. 17.237 MMT estimated for 2017/18

- Coceral cut its estimate of EU-28’s 2018 soft wheat crop to 128.004 MMT from 129.894 MMT previously, down from 141.869 MMT in 2017

- Ukraine had resumed grain shipments from the Azov Sea

CORN

- Dec 5 - Algerian’s ONAB seeks 80,000 MT of Argentine corn for Dec 15-31 shipment

- Dec 5 - Jordan bought 60,000 MT of optional-origin feed barley from Olam at 262.95 $/mt c&f for March shipment

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 34.1 MMT of corn from 97% of planned area as of Dec 4, yields totaled 7.7 mt/ha

- Informa Economics forecast Brazil's 2018/19 corn production at 95 MMT, unchanged from its estimate a month ago

- Celeres forecast Brazil's 2019 corn exports at 25-32 MMT

- EC upped forecast of 2018 EU corn harvest by 0.55 MMT to 62.88 MMT (64.8 MMT in 2017). EC also raised forecast of EU 2018/19 corn imports by 2.2 MMT to 18.5 MMT vs. 17.86 MMT in 2017/18. Ending stocks are estimated at 19.108 MMT vs. 20.106 MMT current season

- EC lowered its forecast of 2018 EU barley harvest by 0.84 MMT to 55.94 MMT vs. 58.31 MMT in 2017. EC kept forecast of EU 2018/19 barley exports at 8 MMT vs. 8.96 MMT in 2017/18. Barley inventories in the region are forecasted at 4.546 MMT by the end of June 2019 vs. 4.22 MMT estimated for 2017/18

- Coceral raised its forecast of EU-28’s 2018 corn crop to 60.534 MMT from 58.943 MMT previously, slightly down from 60.667 MMT in 2017

- Coceral cut its estimate of EU-28’s 2018 barley crop to 56.011 MMT from 57.439 MMT previously, down from 58.302 MMT in 2017
