WHEAT

- Dec 1 - Saudi Arabia’s SAGO seeks 480,000 MT of wheat, 12.5% protein, in 8 consignments for Feb-Apr shipment

- Dec 1 - Japan seeks 151,853 MT of food wheat for Jan-Feb shipments:

  • 10,922 MT of western white US wheat;
  • 21,780 MT of hard red winter US wheat;
  • 24,728 MT of dark northern spring US wheat;
  • 69,642 MT of Canadian western red spring wheat;
  • 24,781 MT of Australian standard white wheat

- Thailand seeks 100,000 MT of optional-origin feed wheat for shipment between Dec 2017 and Jan 2018

- Nov 29 - Iraq purchased 100,000 MT of hard wheat: 50,000 MT of Australian wheat at 283.35 $/mt c&f and 50,000 MT of HRW from the US at 294.47 $/mt c&f. The tender had closed on Nov 26 with offers remaining valid until Nov 30

- Nov 29 - Jordan cancelled tender for 100,000 MT of optional-origin milling wheat for March-April shipment

- Nov 28 - Algeria's OAIC bought 570,000 MT of optional-origin milling wheat, likely mostly from France and some from Argentina, at around 208.75-210.5 $/mt c&f for Jan-Feb shipment

- Nov 30 - China sold 28,429 MT of 2012 wheat from state reserves or 5.8% of the offered amount at auction at average price of 2,354 RMB/mt (356 $/mt)

- Nov 29 - Argentina registered 401,525 MT of wheat for export

- Weekly US wheat export sales data for week ended Nov 23 totalled 187,400 MT, incl. 184,400 MT for 2017/18 (below trade expectations of 250-450 TMT). Export commitments for 2017/18 are running 9% behind of year-ago

- USDA expects US all-wheat plantings to fall to 45.0 million acres in 2018/19, down from 46.0 million in 2017/18, with a total production of 1.815 billion bushels (1.741 billion in 2017/18). USDA said US wheat stocks at the end of 2018/19 would fall to 813 million bushels, from 935 million at the end of 2017/18

- Russian weather bureau indicated winter grain plantings are in poorer condition than they were in the year earlier period – 5% are considered in poor condition compared to the 3% last year at this time

- SovEcon forecast Russia's 2018 wheat crop at 76.7 MMT, which would be the country's second-largest after a record 83.9 MMT this year

- Ukraine's Ag Min said Ukraine exported 16.79 MMT of grain between July 1-Nov 29, 2017/18 vs. 17.78 MMT for the same period last season, including:

  • wheat – 9.75 MMT (vs. 9.93 MMT a year ago);
  • corn – 3.24 MMT (3.83 MMT);
  • barley – 3.73 MMT (3.96 MMT)

- Ukrainian farmers as of Nov 29 have sown 5.9 million hectares (97% of plan) for the 2018 wheat harvest, in line with last year planting

- Kazakh Ag Min said Kazakhstan exported 3.39 MMT of grain between July 1-November 20, 2017/18 vs. 3.07 MMT a year ago

- According to TAXUD, the EU this season in period of July 1-Nov 28, 2017/18 exported 8.479 MMT of soft wheat compared to 10.668 MMT a year ago

- Bulgaria's Ag Min said Bulgaria exported 1.329 MMT of wheat via port Varna between July 3-Nov 26, 2017/18, up 26.1% from a year-ago (1.054 MMT)

- Bulgarian farmers as of Nov 23 have sown 1.061 million hectares for the 2018 wheat harvest, up 4.2% from 1.018 million ha at the same date a year earlier

CORN

- Dec 5 - Jordan seeks 100,000 MT of optional-origin feed barley for May-June shipment

- Nov 30 - USDA announced export sales of 110,000 MT of US grain sorghum for delivery to China during 2017/18

- Nov 29 - USDA announced export sales of 101,600 MT of US corn for delivery to unknown destinations during 2017/18

- Nov 29 - Japan received no offers for 120,000 MT of feed wheat and 200,000 MT of feed barley in a simultaneous buy and sell (SBS) auction. New SBS tender for the same amounts for each grain will be held on Dec 6

- Nov 30 - Argentina registered 40,079 MT of corn for export

- Nov 29 - Argentina registered 42,000 MT of corn for export

- Weekly US corn export sales data for week ended Nov 23 of 599,200 MT for 2017/18 (below trade expectations of 0.7-1.1 MMT). Export commitments for 2017/18 are running 27% behind of year-ago

- USDA expects US corn plantings to rise to 91.0 million acres in 2018/19, up from 90.4 million in 2017/18, with a total production of 14.52 billion bushels (14.578 billion in 2017/18). Also USDA said US corn stocks at the end of the 2018/19 marketing year, on Aug 31, 2019, would grow to 2.607 billion bushels, from 2.487 billion at the end of 2017/18

- Ukrainian farmers as of Nov 29 harvested 21.6 MMT of maize from 4 million hectares (or 90% from total area of 4.5 million ha) with yields at 5.36 mt/ha vs. 23.1 MMT and 6.3 mt/ha at the same date last year

- Ukrainian farmers as of Nov 29 have sown 822,000 hectares (89% of plan) for the 2018 barley harvest vs. 882,400 hectares a year ago

- US Ethanol production for the week ended Nov 24 decrease by 8,000 barrels to 1,066,000 barrels per day, up 5.3% from last year's level of 1,012,000 bpd. Stocks rose by 147,000 barrels from the week prior to 22.044 million barrels, up 19.5% vs. 18.448 million barrels a year ago

- Nov 30 - USDA announced export sales of 657,000 MT of US soybeans for delivery during 2017/18:

  • 525,000 MT to China;
  • 132,000 MT to unknown destinations

- Nov 29 - USDA announced export sales of 263,000 MT of US soybeans for delivery to China during 2017/18

- Nov 29 - Egypt’s GASC bought 40,000 MT of soybean oil (30,000 MT at 832 $/mt c&f (with facilities 180 days) from ADM and 10,000 MT at 14,660 EGP/mt (827.8 $/mt) from Alex Co) and 11,500 MT of sunflower oil at 787 $/mt c&f (with facilities 180 days) from Aston for Jan 15-30 delivery

- Weekly US soybeans export sales data for week ended Nov 23 of 942,900 MT for 2017/18 (within the expectations of 0.8-1.2 MMT). Export commitments for 2017/18 are running 18% behind of year-ago

- USDA expects US soybean plantings to rise to 91.0 million acres in 2018/19, topping the record high set in 2017/18 at 90.2 million, with a total production of 4.36 billion bushels (4.425 billion in 2017/18). But it forecast 2018/19 soybean ending stocks tightening to 376 million bushels, from 425 million at the end of 2017/18

- Argentina biodiesel exports fell 30% in the third quarter of 2017 from the previous year, after US Commerce Department in late August imposed countervailing duties on soy-based biodiesel
