WHEAT

- Aug 10 - Japan seeks 147,380 MT of food wheat for Sept-Oct shipments:

  • 16,925 MT of western white US wheat;
  • 11,310 MT of hard red winter US wheat;
  • 29,205 MT of dark northern spring US wheat;
  • 60,570 MT of Canadian western red spring wheat;
  • 29,370 MT of Australian standard white wheat

- Aug 8 - Bahrain seeks 25,000 MT of optional origin wheat (15,000 MT of hard wheat and 10,000 Mt of semi hard wheat) for Oct shipment. The tender deadline is Aug 8 and offers must be valid until Aug 9

- Aug 6 - The lowest offer in Bangladesh’s tender for 50,000 MT of wheat came in at 251 $/mt CIF liner out from Aston. Only one other trader, Agrocorp International, competed for the tender, quoting 251.45 $/mt

- Aug 6 - Iraq’s state grains board bought 50,000 MT of Australian hard wheat at 312.5 $/mt c&f free out. The tender had closed on July 31 with offers remaining valid until Aug 6

- Indonesian buyers recently bought between 150,000 to 200,000 MT of feed wheat from Black sea region at around 200 $/mt c&f for Sept-Oct shipment

- Importers in the Philippines recently purchased around 50,000 MT of feed wheat from Black sea region at around 203 $/mt c&f for Sept shipment

- Aug 7 - Argentina registered 100,000 MT of wheat for export

- US wheat export inspections for week, ending Aug 3, recorded 586,149 MT, within market expectations. Inspections for 2017/18 are running 16.8% ahead of year-ago

- USDA estimated 94% of the US winter wheat harvest was complete by Aug 6, ahead of analysts' expectations for 92% and above last year’s pace (93%) and the 5-year mean of 92%

- USDA rated 32% of the US spring wheat crop in good-to-excellent condition as of Aug 6, up from 31% a week earlier and ahead of market forecasts for 31%, but below the 68% a year-ago. The wheat harvest was 24% complete by Aug 6, ahead of market expectations (22%) and above 5-year mean (21%), but lag behind last year pace (27%)

- Turkey's TMO has been granted the right for duty-free grain imports:

  • 750,000 MT of wheat valid to 31.05.18;
  • 700,000 MT of barley till 31.05.18;
  • 700,000 MT of corn till 31.07.18;
  • 100,000 MT of rice till 31.08.18

- France's farm ministry raised its estimate of the country's 2017 soft wheat crop to 36.783 MMT from 36.216 MMT forecasted in July with yields upped to 7.15 from 7.04 mt/ha earlier, up 33.5% from last year (27.56 MMT and 5.37 mt/ha in 2016) and 3.1% above the five-year average

- France exported 4.97 MMT of soft wheat outside the EU in the 2016/17 marketing year that ended on June 30, 61% less than the previous year

- Aug 8 - China sold 10,864 MT of wheat from state reserves or 0.4% of the offered amount (3,040,773 MT) at auction at average price of 2,288 RMB/mt (341 $/mt)

- Aug 8 - China auctioned 920 MT of imported wheat from state reserves, or 0.7% of the offered amount (136,391 MT) at average price of 2,628 RMB/mt (392 $/mt)

- CNGOIC raised its forecast of 2017/18 Chinese wheat production to 130.2 MMT from 129.85 MMT last month, up 1% on year

- Ukraine exported 810 TMT of wheat in July 2017, up almost 30% on year

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 24 MMT of wheat from 92% of the planned area as of August 8, down from 25.2 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 4.09 mt/ha versus 4.23 mt/ha a year ago

- Russian farmers harvested 44.76 MMT of wheat from 36.6% of the planned area as of Aug 8, down from 45.68 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 4.39 mt/ha up from 3.89 mt/ha a year ago

CORN

- Aug 9 - Taiwan's MFIG seeks up to 130,000 MT of corn from the US, Argentina, Brazil or South Africa for Oct-Nov shipment

- Aug 7 - USDA announced export sales of 180,800 MT of US corn for delivery to Mexico during 2017/18

- Aug 7 - Argentina registered 160,114 MT of corn for export

- Aug 7 - Argentina registered 32,000 MT of sorghum for export

- USDA rated 60% of the US corn crop as good-to-excellent as of Aug 6, down 1% point from the previous week and compared to 74% a year-ago, slightly below analysts' forecast (61%)

- US corn export inspections for week, ending Aug 3, reported 979,006 MT, at the top end of market forecasts (0.7-1.05 MMT). Inspections for 2016/17 are running 29.1% ahead of year-ago

- France's farm ministry forecasts the country's 2017 grain maize crop at 12.759 MMT with yields 9.26 mt/ha, up 9% from last year (11.707 MMT and 8.41 mt/ha in 2016), but 12.7% below the five-year average

- France's farm ministry upped the country's 2017 barley production estimate to 12.267 MMT from 12.162 MMT in July, up 17.6% from last year (10.435 MMT in 2016) and 7.8% above the five-year average. French winter barley crop is estimated at 9.622 MMT (9.648 MMT forecasted in July and 8.389 MMT in 2016), while spring crop totals 2.644 MMT (2.514 MMT forecasted in July and 2.046 MMT in 2016)

- France exported 2.36 MMT of barley outside the EU in the 2016/17 marketing year that ended on June 30, 49% less than the previous year

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 7.9 MMT of barley from 94% of the planned area as of August 8, down from 9.5 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 3.34 mt/ha down from 3.38 mt/ha a year ago

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 1.1 MMT of peas from 99% of the planned area as of August 8, up from 743 TMT a year ago. Yields totalled 2.65 mt/ha versus 3.18 mt/ha a year ago

- Ukraine exported 815 TMT of barley in July 2017, down almost 20% on year

- Ukraine exported 873 TMT of corn in July 2017. Ukraine's Sept-July 2016/17 corn exports rose 27% on year to 21 MMT

- Russian farmers harvested 6.44 MMT of barley from 22.3% of the planned area as of August 8, down from 9.24 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 3.58 mt/ha up from 2.97 mt/ha a year ago

SOYBEAN

- Aug 7 - USDA announced export sales of 206,000 MT of US soybeans for delivery to unknown destinations during 2016/17

- Three South Korean companies last week bought 180,000 MT of South American soymeal at around 354 $/mt c&f for November shipment

- Aug 8 - Argentina registered for export 80,000 MT of soybeans and 182,400 MT of soymeal

- Aug 7 - Argentina registered for export 50,000 MT of soybeans, 518,595 MT of soymeal and 133,100 MT of soybean oil

- US soybean export inspections for week, ending Aug 3, reported 685,697 MT, topped market expectations (250-550 TMT). Inspections for the 2016/17 marketing year are running 15.2% ahead of year-ago

- USDA rated 60% of the US soybean crop as good-to-excellent as of Aug 6, up 1% point from prior week and ahead of market expectations (59%), but below compared to 72% a year-ago

- Two major Chinese soybean buyers have resold more than 500,000 MT of product in recent weeks, amid growing concerns about losses among crushers and congestion at Shandong province's major port of Rizhao

- China imported a record high 10.08 MMT of soybeans in July, up 31% from 7.69 MMT in June and up 30% from July 2016. Soy imports for the first 7 months of 2017 stood at 54.89 MMT, up 16.8% from the same period last year

- China's imports of all vegetable oils in July was 270,000 MT, down 31% from 390,000 MT in June

- France's farm ministry raised its estimate for 2017 French rapeseed output to 5.224 MMT from 4.667 MMT in July, up 10.3% from last year (4.738 MMT in 2016) and 2.7% above the five-year average

- France's farm ministry forecasts the country's 2017 sunflower seed crop at 1.251 MMT with yields 2.28 mt/ha, up 5.8% from last year (1.183 MMT and 2.18 mt/ha in 2016) but 12% below the five-year average

- France's farm ministry forecasts the country's 2017 soybean crop at 399 TMT with yields 2.81 mt/ha, up 16.8% from last year (342 TMT and 2.48 mt/ha in 2016) and 78.1% above the five-year average

- CNGOIC raised its forecast of 2017/18 Chinese rapeseed production to 14.3 MMT from 13.74 MMT previously

- Ukraine exported 52 TMT of soybeans in July 2017. Ukraine's Sept-July 2016/17 soybean exports rose 23% on year to 2.86 MMT

- Ukraine exported 123 TMT of rapeseed in July 2017, doubled on year

- Ukraine exported 510 TMT of sunflower oil in July 2017. Ukraine's Sept-July 2016/17 sunoil exports rose 29% on year to 5.46 MMT

- Ukrainian farmers harvested 2.1 MMT of rapeseed from 95% of the planned area as of August 8, up from 1.1 MMT a year ago. Yields totalled 2.76 mt/ha versus 2.63 mt/ha a year ago

- Russian farmers harvested 266,100 MT of rapeseed from 12.5% of the planned area as of August 8, up from 142,600 MT a year ago. Yields totalled 2.08 mt/ha vs. 1.95 mt/ha a year ago

- Indian farmers increased summer crop planting by about 2.6% as of August 4, from the same period last year. Pulses planting was up 3.7% compared with the same time last year, to 12.13 million ha, while soybean planting fell 10.4% to 9.9 million ha. Summer crop planting will continue until October

- India's oilmeal exports fell 64% from a year ago to 39,122 MT in July (108,638 MT in July 2016). Meanwhile Indian export of oilmeals during April-July 2017/18 rose 54% to 638,468 MT compared to 413,341 MT during the same period of last season

- India exported 30,678 MT of soybean meal in July, down from 45,975 MT a month ago but above than 12,270 MT in the same month last year. Indian Apr-July 2017/18 soymeal exports are estimated at 249,927 MT vs. 52,895 MT during the same period of last season

- India exported 2,639 MT of rapeseed meal in July, down from 58,899 MT a month ago and below than 4,197 MT in the same month last year. Indian Apr-July 2017/18 rapeseed meal exports are estimated at 153,495 MT vs. 65,086 MT during the same period of last season

- Malaysia's biodiesel production for 2017 is expected to be little changed from the previous year, less than forecast at the start of the year
