- Mar 24 - Taiwan Flour Millers' Association seeks 98,200 MT of US milling wheat for May-June shipment

- Mar 17 - Argentina registered 60,895 MT of wheat for export

- US wheat export inspections for week, ending Mar 16, recorded 624,334 MT, topped market expectations (350-550 TMT). Inspections for 2016/17 are running 28.2% ahead of year-ago

- Turkish buyers have put purchases of Russian wheat, maize and sunflower oil on hold, despite denial of ban

- Russia’s Ag Min said Russia exported about 26.197 MMT of grain between July 1-Mar 15, 2016/17, down by 1.8% from 26.679 MMT a year ago, including:

  • barley – 2.203 MMT (3.727 MMT);

- Russian Ag Min estimated spring grain planting 1.1% done as of Mar 20. Russian farmers planted 596,100 ha of spring crops vs. 671,600 ha a year ago

- Kazakhstan’s grain stocks as of March 1, 2017 accounted 11.736 MMT, including 9.71 MMT of wheat thereof 7.727 MMT of milling wheat compared to 10.157 MMT (incl. 8.729 MMT of wheat thereof 6.896 MMT of milling) a year ago

- USDA attaché forecasts wheat production in Mexico at 3.65 MMT in 2017/18, down 6% from 3.884 MMT in 2016/17. Wheat imports in 2017/18 are expected at 4.95 MMT, incl. 3.65 MMT from the US, slightly up from year-ago of 4.9 MMT, incl. 3.6 MMT from the US

- Mar 20 - USDA announced export sales of 132,000 MT of US corn for delivery to South Korea during 2016/17

- AgRural estimates Brazil second corn crop seedings at 96% of expected area as of Mar 16 (88% a week ago) versus 93% of area at this time a year ago

- Ukraine’s Ag Min estimated early spring grain planting 15% done as of Mar 20. Ukrainian farmers planted 359,000 ha of spring crops, thereof 243,000 ha of barley (or 14% of planned area), 98,000 ha of peas (or 36%), 11,000 ha of oats (or 5%) and 8,000 ha of wheat (or 4%)

- USDA attaché expects corn production in Mexico at 25.25 MMT in 2017/18, down from 27 MMT in 2016/17. Corn imports in 2017/18 are expected at 13.4 MMT, incl. 13.2 MMT from the US, unchanged from current season

- USDA attaché forecasts sorghum production in Mexico at 6 MMT in 2017/18, up 13.2% from 5.3 MMT in 2016/17. Sorghum imports in 2017/18 are expected at 600 TMT, all from the US, down 14.3% from 700 TMT in 2016/17

SOYBEAN

- Mar 17 - Argentina registered for export 38,128 MT of soymeal and 6,965 MT of soybean oil

- US soybean export inspections for week, ending Mar 16, reported 737,255 MT, above market expectations that ranged from 400 to 600 TMT. Inspections for the 2016/17 marketing year are running 11.6% ahead of year-ago

- Oil World pegs soybean production in South America at 177.0 MMT, up steeply by 5.2 MMT from a month earlier and 14.4 MMT above a year ago

- AgRural estimates 62% of Brazilian soybean crop has been harvested as of Mar 16 (56% a week ago) vs. 61% a year ago

- Agroconsult raised its forecast of Brazil's 2016/17 soybean crop to a record 111 MMT up from its February estimate of 107.8 MMT

- Abiove raised its forecasts of Brazil's 2017 soybean crop from 104.6 to 107.3 MMT and exports from 58.7 to 59.8 MMT

- India's stock of edible oils as of March 1, 2017 at various ports is estimated at 775,000 MT (CPO 290,000 MT, RBD palmolein 160,000 MT, degummed soybean oil 180,000 MT, crude sunflower oil 130,000 MT and 15,000 MT of rapeseed (canola) oil) and about 1,190,000 MT in pipelines. Total stock at ports and in pipelines rose to 1.965 MMT from 1.73 MMT a month ago but well below last year's 2.36 MMT. India's monthly requirement is about 1.65 MMT
