WHEAT

- Feb 12 - The lowest offer in Iraq’s tender for 50,000 MT of hard wheat came in at 244 $/mt c&f free out from ADM for Romanian wheat. Other offers: 244.5 $/mt for Bulgarian wheat; 245 $/mt for Ukrainian wheat; 245.5 and 255 $/mt for Russian wheat; and 334 $/mt for Canadian wheat. The tender closed on Feb 12 and offers must remain valid up to Feb 16

- Feb 10 - Argentina grants export licenses for 52,925 MT of milling wheat

- Russia’s Ag Min said Russia exported about 23.088 MMT of grain between July 1-Feb 8, 2016/17, down by 0.1% from 23.109 MMT a year ago, including:

  • wheat – 17.939 MMT (17.159 MMT a year ago);
  • barley – 1.996 MMT (3.458 MMT);
  • corn – 2.993 MMT (2.303 MMT);
  • others – 160 TMT (189 TMT)

- Russia has 4,026,300 MT of grain in its federal intervention fund as of February 10 vs. 2,910,900 MT a year ago

- Egypt plans to increase wheat production to 10 MMT from 8 MMT currently within the next three years

- USDA attaché estimated wheat production in China at 128.85 MMT in 2016/17, down from 130.19 MMT in 2015/16. Chinese import of wheat in 2016/17 is expected at 4.0 MMT, incl. 500 TMT from the US, up 15% from year-ago of 3.476 MMT, incl. 613 TMT from the US

- USDA attaché lowered its estimate of Kazakhstan’s 2016/17 wheat production to 15 MMT, still up from 13.748 MMT in 2015/16. Kazakh wheat exports in 2016/17 are expected at 7.0 MMT, 500 TMT less than USDA's official projection (7.5 MMT) and down 7.9% from last year’s level of 7.6 MMT

- USDA attaché estimated wheat production in Mexico at 3.863 MMT in 2016/17, up 3% from 3.751 MMT in 2015/16. Wheat imports in 2016/17 are expected at 4.6 MMT, incl. 3.1 MMT from the US, down 4.3% from year-ago of 4.805 MMT, incl. 2.753 MMT from the US

CORN

- Feb 10 - Argentina grants export licenses for 80,075 MT of barley

- USDA attaché estimated corn production in China at 219.554 MMT in 2016/17, down from 224.632 MMT in 2015/16. Chinese import of corn in 2016/17 is expected at 2.0 MMT, incl. 30 TMT from the US, 1.0 MMT less than USDA's official projection (3.0 MMT) and down 37% from year-ago of 3.174 MMT, incl. 321 TMT from the US

- USDA attaché estimated sorghum production in China at 3.8 MMT in 2016/17, 500,000 MT more than USDA's official projection (3.3 MMT) and up from 2.75 MMT in 2015/16. Chinese import of sorghum in 2016/17 is expected at 4.5 MMT, incl. 4.2 MMT from the US, down 45.7% from last year’s level of 8.284 MMT, incl. 6.218 MMT from the US

- USDA attaché estimated corn production in Mexico at 26 MMT in 2016/17, marginally up from 25.971 MMT in 2015/16. Corn imports in 2016/17 are expected at 13.4 MMT, incl. 13.2 MMT from the US, 400 TMT less than USDA's official projection (13.8 MMT) and down 4.4% from year-ago of 14.01 MMT, incl. 13.645 MMT from the US

- USDA attaché estimated sorghum production in Mexico at 5.5 MMT in 2016/17, down 1.5% from 5.587 MMT in 2015/16. Sorghum imports in 2016/17 are expected at 1.0 MMT, all from the US, 300 TMT more than USDA's official projection (700 TMT) and up 51.3% from year-ago of 661 TMT

SOYBEAN

- Feb 15 - Egypt’s GASC seeks 30,000 MT of soybean oil for arrival until March 30

- Feb 10 - South Korea's NOFI has purchased about 42,000 MT of feed ingredients:

  • 12,000 MT of likely Indian rapeseed meal at 239.23 $/mt c&f+1.75 $/mt surcharge for additional port unloading for May 20 arrival;
  • 30,000 MT of palm kernel expellers from South East Asia in five equal consignments at 126 $/mt c&f+1.5 $/mt surcharge for additional port unloading for April-May arrival

- Feb 10 - Argentina grants export licenses for 14,725 MT of sunflower meal

- Abiove raised its forecasts of Brazil's 2017 soybean crop from 101.7 to 104.6 MMT and exports from 58 to 58.7 MMT (51.58 MMT in 2016)
